coin/cell phone holder help

hey guys,

I have a 2006 tC, and the coin/cell phone holder in front of the cup holders is stuck, probably because a coin is stuck in there. I did search, and found a few other topics from awhile back about this, but i wasnt totally clear on how to take apart the dash to fix this. I didnt want to just start pulling stuff off at random and hope it would work. Specific instructions on what i can do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

yank out bottom part of waterfall (the panel around the shifter)

then yank the entire cupholder panel piece out.

How did you get a coin jammed in to make it stuck in there like that? :P

The iPhone holder is probably the most useful thing I've ever gotten from the dealership though...

The coin holder is just plastic.. take a small screwdriver (flathead) and pry up one side of the part that flips up. I dnt think there is a need to remove the cup holder itself..

the coin was my brothers doing :(.

@SquallLHeart
SO pull off the two lowest silver pieces and then the part with the cup holder? is there any real danger in breaking anything?

Toyota plastic...yes there is a danger of breaking something.
But our whole console area comes apart with like 2 screws. I think you can figure that out, just start pulling crap off, you'll find it easy.

Do what Squallheart said! you will be fine.

there's NO screws when pulling the cupholder panel piece out.

just two pieces to pull.. lower waterfall/shifter part..
and the cupholder part with the small storage compartment with the stuck lid.

just pull the lower waterfall piece up and backwards. that's really the most "difficult" part... it takes me literally less than 10 seconds to yank both of those pieces out.. with maybe an extra second if i wanted to get the upper waterfall piece out.

there's the cigarette lighter cable you can disconnect or not, but you can just move the panel piece out of the way for you to get to the cupholder. pull up on the parking brake so you can slide it up and out easier.

there's really nothing special or tricky. just yank the damn thing apart.

Usually people have a heart attack in anything that involves yanking anything off with a bunch of force on their first time doing it. :P
