'New' xB coming in 2016

My current xB will be paid off in 2016 so I will trade it in with the 'new' xB...:icon_mrgreen:

wow, that's pretty crazy if it holds up to be true! toyota/scion has such a nice niche carved out with the xb, it's sad that they're not following up sooner with an update...

thanks for the heads up. im always on the lookout for the latest news on the xb but this article has me disappointed.

neodemon278 09-08-2013 12:34 AM

Hopefully its true. I just hope they hit a mix of xb1 and xb2. Good amount of room and good mpg.

guggan 09-08-2013 12:39 AM

I agree, I would also like to see xb3 a mix of xb2 and xb1, a bit longer than xb2, at least 6 speeds, and around 175hp then that would be awesome!

VENisME 09-09-2013 10:43 AM

Good mpg, comparable standard features as the competition (ie kia asSoul), lower in price or at least make it a good "bang for the buck", dealer options that won't try to bend you over the couch, and maybe even an rs model that's a worthy buy. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

stenger 09-09-2013 06:54 PM

I'm wanting a xb2 truck for the xb3. I really don't want to have to cut mine up to get one, but it's looking like I will have too.

salgadoimages 09-10-2013 01:55 AM

I see this as a positive press release.

2016 Scion xB?

Aww, the link doesn't work now and I never got a chance to read it. Did the article just say Scion is coming back with a new version of the xB in 2016 or did it say more than that?

Tks, BlingS

alternate link to a similar article -- http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/...98414120130905

While Carter would not talk specifically about future product, IHS Automotive has said that it expects an FR-S convertible to join the lineup next year, followed by a new xB in 2016 and a compact crossover in 2017.

BlingSlade 09-18-2013 03:07 PM

16 xB

Thanks MidTownDesi,

I really hope Scion sticks around to make that new version of the xB in 2016.

This helps my current plan as I want to keep my 2005 xB at least a couple of more years. It would be fantastic if Scion comes up with something new/exciting that I can slide right into, whether it be late 2015 or sometime in 2016!

ScionRomance 09-27-2013 11:18 PM

I love my '08 box a ton, so I'm happy to see that there are plans for the model, and hopefully the soul (no pun intended), to live on. What I don't get is Toyota's lack of understanding of their market for the car.

All I see is them talking about the youth market. Don't they understand that A) college grads are burdened with debt and aren't finding great paying jobs in the US? Kids coming out of high school generally aren't making the coin to pop for new Scions, and those that do want an FR-S or a TC. B) I see lots of boxes (and Souls) being driven by grey beards like me (61) who want something practical, reasonably compact, affordable, and ingress/egress friendly who don't have the cash for an RAV, but something bigger than an xD.

If they'd get to the core of the people who who need the product and sell it to them they'd sell a lot more than they are by trying to force their opinion on the market. I bought my box used a year ago not only because it appealed to me for emotional as well as functional reasons, but as well for the fact that nothing else they offered, even in the used channel, had the economics I needed.

Get with it Toyota!

scionxbpr 10-07-2013 03:10 PM

Awesome

Yeah like some of the guys say 6 speed and good milage, the thing is will scion still be offering one type of engine for car and no choices. I really like my Turbo xB2 2 years now at 10 to 14 psi and no issues. The engine should get at least 180hp and 165tq and loose a couple pounds.

crz_jsph 11-07-2013 11:16 PM

no more xBs please!!! unless they want to follow daihatsu or subaru's path with the original bB.

DREWxB08 11-07-2013 11:42 PM

I can't wait for the next xB3!!!!!

The original idea was once a Scion car was done, The name of that car was retired. Scion would move on to a new name. People think Scion when xb is mentioned. Now if they get rid of the xb. There would be a very good chance Scion as a brand would go under unless they find something even better as a replacement for the xb.

They do have the Frs which is bringing in sales but still everyone I talk to thinks xb = Scion.

New xB3(?)

We're all wanting:
1. Something between an xB1 and xB2
2. Longer than a 2, but better gas mileage, and more horses.
3. Lower price, more amenities and features.
4. Pigs to fly, honest politicians and the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Hate to be negative, but I think we're getting greedy. The xB was designed to be a low end car, that happened to have lots of built in goodies. What we take for granted now, things like ABS, traction control, fuel injection, power steering and power windows were top of the line merely a decade ago. And we want it for even less. Sure, we can pay less, if we want poorer quality materials, sloppier workmanship, higher maintenance prices.

We want cheaper, but cheap is cheap. Want cheap, get an Echo. Go for value: the most bang for the buck, balancing quality, features and price. Cheap means you pay much more in the end. Value means you pay more now, but only once.

So don't ask for a lower price. It'll get you backward fast.

It might be coming next year!!

See the next new Scion in L.A. in November!

Here's a new update on the reinvention of Scion:
http://wallstcheatsheet.com/automobi...s-to-age.html/

"Beginning in November in Los Angeles, we’re going to show the first of three new products that will come to market within a 24-month period,” Bloomberg quoted Murtha as saying. “Beyond that, there are no real specifics on what’s going to sunset and what’s going to stick around.”

This jives with all that I've read about Scion's new lineup: A FR-S convertible in 2015, a new xB in 2016, and a compact crossover in 2017.

It just makes sense that the unveiling in Nov will be the FR-S convertible bu you never know for sure.
