Default SCIONS IN CANADA

We are the largest importers of Scions in Canada. (well xA and xB, new regulations prohibit the importation of tC). Just introducing myself in this forum since there is not really too much exposure for Canadians on this site. Hopefully if there is enough response Darren has said he would consider creating some regional Canada forum.

Default Importing a Scion

Hey. I was wondering if you could tell me about what is involved in importing a Scion to Canada. I saw some xB's for sale in Vancouver, but they were asking $25,000+ (CAN $) for them. Seems a little high for a $15,000 US car, even when considering the exchange rate and taxes. I'm just curious. Maybe there are costs I'm not thinking about.

What kind of upgrades/adjustments/modifications need to be made? What is the cost? I heard that you need to modify the headlights so that they are daytime running lights?

Is there anything else that's needed? I'm interested in the xA. Because it's based on the Echo, I figured there wasn't too much that needed to be modified.

Regardless if its a xA or xB you will have to pay for the same inspections and modifications. Only place I know of that were asking that much was Downtown Toyota of Vancouver. Right now i am selling my xBs at cost in order to make room for 2005's. There are alot of hidden costs involved which people do not take into consideration. On top of the base price you have to add destination charge and state tax and license fees. Then you add transport fees, broker fees, exchange rate, import taxes, excise tax, inspection: federal and provincial, modification cost, even a fee for having air conditioning. Its alot of work. So if some prices seem outragous chances are they are not that far off since there is alot of time and money spent. 25k is a little steep but not crazy.

Hmmmm... Why is the tC blocked, eh? Odd.

Welcome! Glad to see Scions getting into Canada. (The xB would be excellent in in Victoria and Vancouver.)

From what I get talking to my friend at Toyota HQ is that its because they plan to use the market the tc as a new celica in Canada. Not sure how accurate that is but thats the rumor.

This is true. Scion tC. TC as in Toyota celica. The Celica will be discontinued and Toyota will launch the new Supra with 450 HP of the lot! Crazy huh?
Any owners from Misissauga?

Hey fellow Canucks. I'm from TO, Woodbridge to be exact. I'm currently in Chicago. I've got a TC. Will be heading back mid-june (11-13). If y'all are up for a get together, let me know.

^The TC is my way home I think my route goes through Woodstock if I'm not mistaken. I'd definitely be up for a meet up. Maybe I'll stop off and grab some gas and grub. I'll be heading back on the 11th of June. Lemme know if you're free. It's a Saturday.

Hey guys, have any pictures of your Scions? What have you guys done w/ them? Is it hard to find Scion stuff here in Canada? Or do you mostly have them shipped up and let customs bite you?
