Could the green color be replaced by say, black or red?

The color shown is just from the computer simulation of the machining. The actual parts will be silver aluminum, and the highlights can be painted any color.

cheers

You mean like this?

Remember, the face of the cap will sit nearly flush with the rim.

i did some measuring with some digital calipers today on my xd, here's what i came up with. the centercaps on my falken wheels are .25" deep, and 2.55" in diameter. here's what i have now.

i'd like to have aluminum ones instead of what are basically clearcoated stickers. id mount the new ones to the plastic base i have the stickers on so i can snap them out if needed. i also measured my front emblem badge. i'd really like to get a custom one done with the autobots emblem. i believe its held on with doubleside, as i cant see any hardware coming thru the hood. it measured 5.524" at its widest, and 3.775 at its highest. its looks maybe a quarter inch deep at the most.

if this is something you would be interested in making, i'd A. be very gratful, and B. be VERY intrested in purchasing them from you. here's a refrence for a autobot emblem.

Ok, I worked up the Autobot Badge....

This is with the slight convex surface. If you would rather have it flat that is no problem. I can machine them either way. Flat is actually much easier to machine. This image also makes the badge look really thick, but I cake them the roughly the same thickness as the stock badge. The center caps will look just like the badge, but round.

I just ordered a 2.5" x 6ft round bar of aluminum for making the center caps. cobaltbravo, can, you measure the center through hole on your rims? I will be making the center caps to just slip into the rim center hole, and have locking screws on the back side to secure the cap. This way people can't steal them without removing the rim.

Yes, I will be doing hatch, from badge, and center cap logo's for sure.

I didnt get a chance to machine anything this weekend, but I have off Monday, so might get some examples done tomorrow...

For the hood emblem, flat is fine. I'd like the symbol a little smaller so its not so close to the edge, your example looks like its right out to the edge of the disk. For the centercap, I'll have to pull the wheel and re-measure; I just thought it would be easier to mount them to the plastic snap in disk with doubleside. Ill get you numbers tomorrow.

Looks great. I wish there was a way to fill the etching with blue just like the rendering. Id prob want them run thru the drum to make them smooth. Ill pull a wheel tonight to measure the centercap location. How do you plan on securing these if I don't put them on the snap in rings like the stock ones?

here's the best i could do for measurements. i used the calipers to try and get as accurate numbers as i could. i put them on a pic to explain them. sorry for the crappy image.

Those measurements should be good cobaltbravo. The caps are going to be a close fit to the rim through hole. There will be two tapped holes in the rear of the cap, near then edge. I am going to then make a small slot through each tapped hole. This will create a flexible portion of the OD, which will spread out when each tapped hole has a screw tightened into it. This will create a wedge effect, locking the cap in place. The main point is to prevent someone going up to your car with a screw driver and poping them out and walking. I lost enough vale stem caps that way to Pi$$ me off to no end.... I will try and post a simulation pic to illustrate the locking mechanics.

The engraving grooves should be large enough to easily paint in with some acrylic and a fine tip model brush or similar. I will play around with some of the first pieces to see how well painting them works.

Still waiting on aluminum bars for making the caps to show up....

On to other news, that diversion panel I ordered last week showed up on Monday, sooooo....

VIDEO clip of the panel being engraved:http://www.cncfusion.com/images/SCIO...l/SDC10162.avi

The panel got was stainless, which was a pain in the fanny to engrave, it broke my first bit because I tried to run it at the speed aluminum would run at. Takes about 5 times longer to engrave.... So if your wanting a custom panel, pick an aluminum one, or I'll have to tag on a couple extra $$ since it takes so much longer.

I was going to put the Arc Reactor pattern on it, but I didn't want to steal badassco08's thunder before it even started to rain....

That Silverstein engraving is frickin sick. That is by far their best album too. I've been listening to it a lot the past week. Once you get the rear emblem done i'd like to see what it looks like on the car. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying from you.
