Default HELP! Corroded headlight (factory) harness * PICS

I got HID's for almost 3 years.
to be honest i bought my car used and i had some problem since day one.
i used to have some kind of grounding kit and it was installed wrong so my power went out every five minutes. Of course i took my car back to the dealership on the first week and as far as i remember they changed both factory harness ( besides uninstalling the grounding kit)
or maybe they just changed my low beam bulbs. cant really recall it.

So back to the present. i got hids since and my pass side stopped working.
i checked the cables and the factory harness is corroded and the green rubber is completely destroyed. Its soft.. like a playdoll.

Not even a regular bulb will work right now. i sprayed some wd40 on them. not sure if it will help.
What can i do now?? I do have an extra harness. can i just cut the old harness off and wire a brand new plug in there?

and i know.... i should get a relay harness. Well. i will get one but right now i have to get this fixed.

fyi: im pretty sure the factory harness was cutted/spliced once. it has electrical tape on both (+ and - ) cable.

yeah i replaced mine awhile ago. i got the high temp ones from auto zone. if you can solder would be best but butt connectors work just fine. just replace the connector and it should work fine.

you could try to clean them up w/ some vinegar, baking soda and a tooth brush.

pack em full of dielectric grease before reconnecting so it doesnt happen again

well obviously the rubber stuff was destroyed so nothing was preventing corrosion.
Btw i just fixed both harness.. It was really easy. just simple cut and solder stuff. Only problem was the lack of space. I almost took off the battery to make some room

The new harness holds tight and works great.
I was super happy when i saw the hid lighting up. So i changed both sides.
