Question 1st Gen tc 1st gear grind

Okay, so ive noticed that occasionally, after sitting at a light for a min or two in neutral, when i shift into 1st, there is a small grind. If i pump my clutch once or twice, then shift into 1st, no grind...
Anyone else had this problem?
Thoughts?

My thoughts are to drain, flush, bleed the slave cylinder, possibly even replace it. I dont wanna just start throwing parts at it though, especially if its a syncro (fingers crossed).
Anyway, just looking for some input on this.
This is my 1st real post on this forum, and im not a noob, by any means, so please no flaming.
Thanks guys.

Generally if you pump the clutch and it slips into gear fine, then you probably have either a weak MC or SC. How does the fluid look? Do you have a bunch of black sludge in the bottom of the MC? If you do them more than likely your fluid is probably bypassing the seals causing low pressure.

Start in 2nd then.

But yeah, Kik is right. If you're pumping and it's working, then it's probably a hydraulic issue, although there are scenarios where it's not necessarily hydraulic, it's just a coincidence.

Okay...back with some answers, and new questions, of course.
Replaced the CSC(slave cyl) this morning, bled it using the dsm method.
clutch still on the floor half the time.
Bought a new CMC(master cyl), and found out what a giant pain in the ...that is.
Being a rookie, i accidentally pulled the brake master cyl off first. Realized im an idiot, reinstalled it, then removed and replaced the clutch master behind the strut tower, upside down acrobatics under the dash...
What the hell do i need to do now?
No pedal pressure at all
no idea how to adjust the pushrod either
what is the bleeding sequence i need to follow?
Slave, front left, front right, right rear, left rear?
anyone got any advice?

thanks,
murder

ABS doesn't really need bleeding sequence, that's a thing of the past, otherwise, I personally still follow sequence. And sequence is backwards from what you have. You start at the farthest point away from the cylinder and work closest: RR, LR, RF, LF.

omg so im ready to pour gas on my TC, my computer, and all my tools, and burn them...
This all started with the cp going to the floor, like i could feel it losing pressure. So, being an a..hole with too much money, i started throwing parts at it.
replaced the c.slave first, no help.
replaced the c.master, seemed to help, still not a lot of pressure, although the pedal is kinda returning to its std position.
Clutch feels reaaaaalllly thin, grabs about an inch or 2 off the floor, still feels like its losing pres...
pushrod is allll the way out on the cmaster cyl.
ive bled EVERYTHING, all the way around due to removing the b.master on accident.
Need some help guys, ive searched my a..off, tried everything...

All I can say, is bleed the slave again. Make sure the res is full, I don't know if you're using a power vac or having someone help you, but I have been hearing that you generally have to bleed the system 3-5 times before all the air is actually removed. Hopefully you're using 2 people. Pump the pedal 3 or 4 times, hold it to the floor and have someone open the bleeder on the slave. Hold the pedal to the floor until the bleeder is closed then pump 4 - 5 times again, repeat as needed and don't for get to check the res.

Ive bled it every way i can think of, the 2 man method, the vacuum method, and im just missing something. i know theres still some air in there, and its hard to get out.
im going to try and raise the front of the car, and re bleed the slave, using one of those speed bleeders...if thats no help, in the shop she goes.
i got a guy i tattoo who paints cars, whos brother is a mechanic.

Ahhh...sweet redemption cometh.
okay guys, heres a couple things I learned thru this mess...
1...Orileys clutch master is garbage. where the pushrod meets the pedal plunger metal piece that attaches to the pedal, is loose and sloppy.
I got another one from advance and it was made waaaaay better, overall a better quality part, very close to factory oem.
2...when you can afford, always always, ALWAYS use a dealer part, from Toyota. It matters a lot, and they are not like a Honda.
3...ALWAYS BENCH BLEED BEFORE INSTALLING!!!
this was my problem, as there was a huge air bubble in the clutch slave, and it wasn't engaging the slave completely.
4...Ill be buying a longer pushrod, because ive got mine all the way out, and its almost perfect, but could be just a little bit longer. If anyone knows where to get that longer pushrod, please post a link.
so after installing a good quality part, proper bench bleeding, and some pushrod adjustment, I have a clutch again.
Thanks to everyone who helped out here.
Ill be taking pics of the crappy parts tomorrow and posting them on here for refrence.
