Anyone seen or heard of a tc with shiftronic? good idea or bad idea?
I have a friend testing this out in his boosted accord. I'll let you know the results as soon as he tells me.

I believe this essentially works by increasing the flow rate to prevent clogging in the valve body. Honestly.... I wouldn't do this without having valve body work done already.

update for the http://www.levelten.com/store/import...shiftronic.htm

According to my friend, it runs fine. Note that it will no longer SHIFT BY ITSELF. Meaning it is essentially turned into a sequential manual. You MUST manually select each gear.

having mild mods will not really affect the tranny that much. The biggest issue is if you plan to keep the car for say a long time.

I'm a college student so I plan on keeping this car for a bit until I pay off my loans. That could potentially be up to the 100k mark.

Of course Keeping a rigorous maintanence schedule will keep the tranny running smooth.

just be extremely careful. Auto sticking will generate a bit more heat since you are reving higher than the intended shift point. This will cause more heat which is bad.

just curious, with all these mods done to the tranny, how much power and torque do you think or know that the tranny will hold up to before it starts slipping?

I just emailed Levelten about an Auto tC Tranny upgrade and this is what I was quoted:

Spec Trans build $3398.00

Spec converter upgrade $998.00

R&R labor $350.00

3 year/ 50,000 mile warranty

We need 3-4 days to complete the job.

Now, I know if I was to actually go and pay to have that job done I wouldn't regret it (well, my wallet would). But at the same time I feel like a full rebuild isn't nessescary to sustain an auto tranny with say a dezod turbo kit. I mean, I'm looking to push around 250hp, not try to keep up with Chris Rado, hehe...

Any thoughts on this? I'm very interested in going to the next level with my tC...

well i've been away for a while. 25 page term paper on fuel cells will tend to rape everyone....

anyways...

I think that you wouldn't need to get ALL those upgrades. I mean think about it. Why run a stage 3 clutch when you don't have to?

I will say that the cheapest and easiest thing to get done is the tranny oil cooler. B&M makes them. So does Hayden. TRD has one for the 4runner. (should be able to modify this and slap on the tc)

If you plan on going into the HUGE numbers... then start worrying about tranny issues. It's kinda like running the trd supercharger with the stock clutch in a manual. You won't need to upgrade the clutch. Same with the auto. You won't have to upgrade anything.

Slap on a turbo kit running at 14+ psi... you'll want to upgrade the clutch for a manual. Same thing wit the auto tranny. You'll want to build it up.

ZPI went out of buisness but if you can get your hands on their shift kit. I'd get that too. This will allow the auto tranny to upshift and down shift better.

update.... meeting up with a guy that's running a gsx at 18 psi and using a auto tranny.

Gonna see if he had anything done that I haven't listed. If so... I'll post it up.

Anyways. The dude was testing this atf called redline. DON"T USE IT.

Anyways. Talking with him and taking a look. All he had was valve body work and a tranny oil cooler.

Hope this helps.
