I probably have a lot of stuff to add to this at home. Will see what I can do later when I'm home at my other computer.

TRD Cold Air Induction System
Type: Cold Air Intake
Part Number: PTR03-21060
Colors: Black Chrome
Application: Scion tC
Number of Pipes: 3
Significant bends: 3
CARB EO Status: NOT CARB
MSRP: $440
Street: $349 (at McGeorgeparts.com)
Manufacturer's Site: www.TRDUSA.com
Relevant Threads:

TRD is the in house Racing Developmental team for Toyota. They are known for their quality as all parts not only cary the TRD namesake but are also backed by Toyota. Of all the manufactures they more than likely have the deepest pockets around to provide you, the consumer, with quality parts to meet your needs. Teaming up with AEM, TRD produced this Black Chrome beauty complete with Bypass valve included to prevent Hydrolocking in those moments of filter saturation by water emersion. This Cold Air Kit also converts to Short Ram if need be. Gains can be felt as the car seems more torquey above 3K rpms but the biggest modification is the throttle note (which matches the TRD exhaust perfectly if you have it) and a more pronounced throttle body whistle. the only drawback other than the steeper than average price is the fact that this intake is NOT CARB legal. however releasing the Intake in this non CARB form allowed the power gains to stay on par with the Injen intake. all in all its comparable in gains.

Pros: Bypass Valve and MAF sensor mount area provided
Cons: Not CARB legal
Rating:

Picture is of actual product.

ok i stated this in another TRD Intake thread not long ago but guess it was missed. i dynoed my TRD intake and compared it to my boy's tC which ran right after mine. we both have TRD exhausts but he has Injen intake and his dyno was about 1.sumthing to 2 horses better than mine.

no torque numbers were provided at this dyno. so a Injen will net you 1 or 2 horses better but of course you cant feel that difference. happy?

whatts not to believe? this is FIRST HAND info. i mean all dyno's have about a 2 horse power error variance but still for the sake of giving people a number i would think it would be less than the Injen being that the Injen is 3 inch diameter vs the TRD being 2.5 and having a bypass valve which causes a little bit of turbulance in the air.

I believe you saw what you saw at your dyno. We all need to see HP AND Torque numbers over stock on a dyno plot. And my post was regarding the TRD and AEM. I read your post before but it wasn't enough information nor reliable enough to make an informed decision. I know people are waiting for these intakes to be tested and dyno'd so we can make purchase decisions.

Just installed the Injen CAI. Fit and finish is quite good. Sounds sick, and I do believe in the increased performance claims.

However, the short ram installation does not work as it shows in the installation instructions. The first section is longer than shown in the install guide and there is no room for the filter element at the end.

For those interested in dyno plots go to Killertc.com for a head to head test of many intakes, the Injen proves to be far and above the best performer.
