check the brackets and such also check where the extended portion of the intake goes through the body it usually rubs on the body but you won't be able to see it to tell i put some foam there you may want to consider the doctor isotopes intake fender mount...i may have one for sale btw i gotta check

you know what,i know what your talking about! i recently got on 08 scion as well and once i installed the CAI i started hearing clicking noises by the engine.

I actually went to the dealer and told them about it but they said its fine!It sounded normal according to them, but they were probaby being lazy!I sure wouldnt mind knowing the answer to that problem though!

well i dont know about it being normal why would it be normal if when i got the car it wasn't making that noise. once i put my cai it started doing that like a month later. but is that clicking sound on the passenger or driver side in your car?

the clicking sound is normal. the CAI just amplifies it even more than usual.

Search around and you'll see that your question will be answered by something along the lines of mine. Lots of people have asked the same thing as you.

Are engines do make A LOT of ambient noise that is muffled by the stock air box

back to my post...i meant the drivers side and some of it is from the engine making noise just b/c but also sometimes it is from the cai and you avoid some of it but sometimes you can't get rid of all of it

I know what u mean i get it too where the belts are or it sounds like the valves are tappinig! it goes away after a while but its there and makes me worry...also does ur 08 TC idle funny when u shift to neutral on the freeway mine revs itself after dropping to 700 and comes back up to stay at 1.5K when im under 30 MPH the idle drops back down

well what id does on the frway if i shift to neutral the rpms drop like normal to 700 RPM, then after it hits that point it bounces back up to around 1.5 and stays there for a while or if i slow down to less than 25 mph it will idle normal, its like i have an auto tranny ecu, u kno when u let off the gas on an auto it revs somewhere around 1.5K RPM i im wondering if other manuals do this, and it did this with the stock intake also

If this is what I think it is, it's the vacuum switching valve (the thing connected to the green thing in the picture below):

I used to have the DME front strut bar installed, and the VSV was pressing against the bar after installation. All the rest of my powertrain stuff is stock, but I heard a ticking noise whenever idling, and a sharp ticking noise when starting. I'm pretty sure it was this thing's ticking being amplified through to the body.

On most of the CAIs I've seen, you have to mount the VSV on the tube of the CAI, which may conduct vibrations to the rest of the body. I'm curious if it's this thing's ticking that you're hearing.
