Default Clutch Pedal keeps Depressed!!! SOLVED!

Have any of you encountered this problem before?

I was driving normally today (no gunning or anything) and all of a sudden when I pressed the clutch pedal, it stuck at that position (very dangerous). so I got my foot under the pedal, and pulled it back to its position.

this happened when I pressed the clutch pedal for a long time (like backing up in a parking spot, picking up the car from stop in first gear). This problem just started today.

And when i parked the car in my garage, (I slowly get it in the garage) i kept the clutch depressed and then took my foot off it and it not only stayed in that position, but it depressed even more!

help me!

my car:
05 tC manual
107K miles
Greddy 18G turbo kit at 8psi
Clutch masters stage 4.5 un-sprung clutch... had it on the car for bout 7-10K miles never gave me a problem


Any info will be great!

I would get a friend in the car and you pop the hood and have a look at the clutch fork and such on the transmission. Have your friend pull the pedal up and press it again and see what's happening.

I don't know what would cause this, but you should check under the hood as well.

that just recently happen to my civic it was the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder was replaced and that worked for me

but luckily i drive a auto scion so thats something i shouldn't have to be looking forward to that

isn't there a return spring on the clutch pedal? have you checked that?

i did but the thing is that the spring is on the back of the clutch- as if it was there to help us press in the pedal.

i did a google search and it turned me to s2k forums... they said the slave cylinder was the issue.

can you tell me around how much those two will cost?

also is there a place in the engine bay for the clutch fluid? is there such thing as a clutch fluid?

well I got the clutch master cylender from auto zone under 50 and the slave free from friend but u can check ur clutch fluid under the hood don't know exactly where on a scion causeine is auto but on my hatch it near the driverside fire wall says clutch fluid

I'm gonna bump this because it's only maybe 3 weeks old.

What was the end result? How did you fix it? I have the same problem with very similar setup. 50k miles, dezod kit, cc stage 4 with 7-10k miles on the clutch and my pedal stayed depressed.

appologize for not replying to the forum, got busy...

it was the master cylinder. on the work order from toyotait noted " master cylinder failed, no internal pressure."

the total cost of repairincluding the part n install (andreplacement of my drivebelt) was 647.xx

Sorry for the late reply guys... but yes this issue was solved completely!

It was the clutch's master cylinder that failed. the work order from Toyota stated " master cylinder failed, no internal pressure"

and now the car's clutch peddle feel is like the day I got the car. So smooth and it engages very early... and there is no "stiff" feel when you depress the clutch

Yea, I had same problem but it was master and slave cylinder. Both had to be replaced. First the shop did the slave and it helped the pedal a lot but after they did the master it was back to normal again. Bill for both was around $400

I had this problem on my 94 Integra couple years ago, I bought the car to the mechanic and he told me that it might cost $500 or only $25. $500 is failure on the master and slave cylinder, $25 is there might be air got in because my clutch fluid went out but I didn't know. He tried to get the air out first and it worked, after that I just had to keep an eye on the clutch fluid level. I was happy that he fixed it for $25.

i am having the same problem right now

and i have an idea eaither its people who have aftermarket clutches installed or its has to do with the mileage cause i just hit 50k and it seems that people who are right around that range of milelage

anywho i will be having this fixed tomorrow i will post back with costs and pictures of the fix so that other can diy

okay guys family mechanic sd it was the master cylinder he sd it was leaking and what not as of right now here are my expenses

master cylinder $45.00 at murrays/oreilly's auto part shipped overnight
brake fluid $4.00
mechanics charge $80.00

and her is a pic of the location of where the master cylinder is for those like me who didnt know at first where it was
