Default It's that time again! Help me buy my headers!!!

I've been reading up on which headers gives the most whp gains. So far Alphawerks is the most promising. I don't know much about the MMW, but that kit comes with the headers and the s-pipe, while the DC Sports, Megan Headers, and Alphawerks do not come with a s-pipe. I've checked over James_GSC thread where he dynoed the DC, Megan, OEM, and Alhpawerks headers.

I just need to know how I can eliminate the rasps everyone's been talking about. I don't know if my HKS Hi-Power axle back exhaust is going to make it worst or better. I also want to eliminate the CEL, so I would have to get an 02 simulator or do the antifouler trick, but I dont' know how to do any of these. Basically I'm a noob at headers, antifoulers, 02 simulators, s-pipes. So please help me and inform me. Thanks.

I also need to know how much each of these headers cost too. So I need links to the cheapest web sites.

Here are the cheapest prices I've found:

From Pro-Motion Tuning

DC Sports Headers: $317.95
Megan Racing: $219.00
Alphawerks Headers: $299.00
MMW Headers: $540.00
Strup Headers: $379.95

Ebay has a few of them. I have a megan racing muffler. The quality is awesome and it sounds great.

to get rid of some rasp, you can get a 30 inch resonator installed.... :-)

but yes your hks is going to make the rasp much worse than it would be with stock exhaust.

The antifouler trick is very easy and very cheap.... i dont have links, but do a search for "antifouler" and you'll find what you need. i saw some good how-tos on this site.

Ive ordered stuff from ptuning.com, hopupracing.com... creativecompacts.com is a good place too from what i hear.

Haven’t you herd mine not raspy isn’t it? I got a 30 in resonator on it helped out a lot. And I think for the price you should go for the MMW because of its gains and its not raspy like the others and you get the s-pipe.

Chris you got the DC Sports correct? I would like to get the MMW but the price just scares me away. Right now I'm still leaning towards the Alphawerks headers.

Hmm...after doing some research on the MMW headers, I think it is a better buy. Can anyone find the MMW header for cheap? All i found was $540+ shipping.

MMW was also having issues with fitting also. The dc sport is the only coated one right? Draxas might be comming out with a 4-2-1 header within the next few months also.

Anyone find the MMW headers for cheaper than $540? Or the Alphawerks headers for cheaper than $299?

you arent going to find the mmw cheaper then 540 untill they run another sale. They had them for 450 on sale (shipped) and i have no clue why I didnt pick it up. Anyway - like i said - ive looked and you arent going to find it for less unless it used. Athe alphawerks I dont know much about. The rasp is such a big problem I dont know if my resinator that I have will be good enough. I know its prob around 20inches but people are putting two 15's on its so bad.

So no rasps at all with the MMW? No CEL also?

The poll seems to be a fight between the Alphawerks and the MMW headers. I need more input on these two headers guys.

You will have rasp on every single header if you dont have atleast a 20inch resinator. ....if not two 15inch resinators. keep that in mind.

Okay I have another idea. I think it's easier and cheaper if I get the Alphawerks header and another s-pipe. This would come out cheaper than the MMW header and s-pipe. 06SuperWhite_SoCal_tC had just told me that he got his MMW header and s-pipe combo for $651.75. I dont' think it is worth the money if it only gives the same amount of whp as the alphawerks with a s-pipe.

Item Name: MMW Stainless Steel Race Header - 2005+ tC
Quantity: 1

Total: $550.00 USD

Cart Subtotal: $550.00 USD
Shipping: $55.00 USD
Sales Tax: $46.75 USD
Cart Total: $651.75 USD

Just one more thing to keep in mind if you plan to S/C your TC. Alot of people bring up the idea of heat blowing seals on the S/C. DC is the only header that's ceramic which when produces less heat than stainless. I have DC headers, I love them and they were only 240 on EBAY. I'd recommend them for the S/C setup especially with the whole heat blowing the seals issue.

I am thinking of a way to make a heat shield or modify the OEM heat shield to cover the headers. It hides my aftermarket headers and protects my Supercharger when i go supercharger.

Yeah the ceramic's wont blue out the like the others too. They will always look decent if you dont put the cover back on.
