For the Scion Xb 1st Gen, we require special Trans Fluid as I was told by a Aamco transmission place, which they do not carry + was advise to go to the Dealer to get the correct fluid. 99.9 % of the Auto parts stores do not carry the special trans fluid for our cars.
At a NJ Scion dealer, they charge me couple of year ago $70 for a Trans fluid change, which is basically a drain + refill of new fluid.
My wife got a trans fluid change for her xA at one of those quick oil lube place. Which I had to get flushed out, cause they used a generic equivelant fluid, which to me is a big No.....
I asked the guy how is they have the fluid + Aamco doesn't even carry it nor would they recommed to put in a synthetic . So I went to the dealer to correct this problem with a Trans flush.
The Trans fluid flush was about $200 at a dealer. Reason they use 2x or 3x the amount of Trans fluid with a machine to totally flush your system to ensure all old trans fluid has been drained + to ensure non contamination your new trans fluid.
Good Luck + make sure you get the proper fluid for your car.
