E153 transmission swap info
I am going to be gathering some prices together for making the parts needed. This is not just buying these brackets and your done. The transmission has to physically be disassembled so after the case is drilled it can be completely cleaned. Very basic run down of whats required:
Transmission E153 (MR2 Turbo - comes LSD if specified, Camry V6 – no LSD)
Throwout bearing MR2 or Camry V6 (For E153)
Make custom shift cable bracket
Make custom rear transmission mount
Modify rear transmission mount bracket
Modify passenger CV axle mounting bracket
Need Camry V6 driver CV axle (only using tripod shell)
Modify driver CV axle (shorten shaft and install tripod shell)
Drill and tap transmission case
Make custom bracket for top of transmission to allow an additional two bolts for mounting
Freeze plugs
Shift linkage from original transmission needs modified
There are always more than one way to do something, I did it this way so all the factory shift cables would work, The Camry and MR2 uses different shift cables and the mount is different on the shift linkage, you could run the linkage that came with this transmission and fight to figure out which cables to run. This is all the info I am putting out. I will have prices soon for brackets and mounts. If you buy these I will take the time to do a write up of what exactly has to be done start to finish.
Swap cost me 2100. I had two gears that needed changed. Place I ordered the transmission from gave me the wrong vin and I wasted 220 on gears that I cant use and had to reorder the right gears.

That's partially true but only a little better. This transmission is bulletproof the E350-E351 is the same except the ring and pinion. There both weak transmissions

I figured he meant 153 and just moved the numbers around. The 351 has a different final drive that is also better suited for booster'ds, but everything else is the same and just as brittle as the 350 (stock tC transmission). But I was answering his question assuming he was asking about the 153. The 153 is better all around for the BlackKnight is going for... which is crazy power.

Waiting to see the results of this swap. I have a UE-350 on my bench at work waiting to swap in if my stock trans fails when I go boost again. 2100 isn"t too bad granted you'll have more gears.

Its has approx 600 miles on it. Yes it will slight improve Et vs my old one due to being in boost longer through each gear.
