The speed sensing wire should be a purple wire coming from the ECM which is located behind the glove box. The ECM is mount in an upright position. When you have access to the ECM, look at the 2nd connector from the top and find that purple wire from that plug. I think it's terminal #17 of that connector.

There's one much closer on the harness that connects to the heater control assembly...

Here's info from another post

I was able to pick up the speed sensor wire on the conntector attached to the A/C control panel (the center consol waterfall panel with the clock and heater/ac control *****). It's on pin-14 orange wire. NOTE: there is more than one orange wire. If you have the factory alarm, you may see a wire *spliced* to an orange wire on pin-25 (bottom row, 5th from the left) but it's *not* the one you want, you're looking for pin-14 (top row, 14th from the left) orange wire installed in the connector. The connector has 40 pins.

I haven't tried the orange wire by the A/C, but I always use the Purple wire in the ECM Derrickfernlea mentioned. That has always worked for me, and is easy for me to tap into.

^^ ditto.. it's not hard to get to and that is where i have my current navi hooked up to.

there's quite a bit of spd wires in the car you can tap into.

hey all, I just installed an avic-d2 and still need to hook up the speed sense wire. Can I just splice it like normal or do I have to do something special so the wire doesn't short out? Somebody mentioned installing a diode in line with the wire. Any insight?

Yah I used the one in the AC connector it was quick and easily accesible because it was already exposed. My Pioneer Avic Z1 came with the speed wire already hooked up to a connector that splices into another. If not you can pick them up at home depot....they really come in handy and are very easy to use and make things alot easier.
