Default Panic Alarm?

When does it exactly go off? This morning my mom woke me up saying someone tried to jack my car, supposedly my panic alarm went off. My dad said he ran outside once he heard it and turned on the lights and saw some fool run away. How does the alarm activate? I thought it was by key only and to scare away people? Unless it was someone's else's car being jacked.

Do you have the dealer optional alarm or an aftermarket alarm put in? There are two ways that the horn will start honking (other than actually pushing the horn button). One is with the key fob panic button, and the other is if you lock the car but the trunk isn't properly latched or is left open. If it's the latter, the horn won't start honking immediately, it'll be a few minutes til it does.

NVM solved the problem, a little miscommunication between the family, my mom over-exaggerating and said my dad saw someone running but it was actually my neighbor watering his grass, and I think my dad had the keys inside his pocket when he was taking a dump and probably accidentally stepped on the panic button. @_@

yea my mom has my secondary key on her key chain along with like 5 other keys. You have no idea how many times she accidentally unlocked/locked my car when getting into her own, throwing the keys into her purse or w.e.

It’s a good thing that it automatically locks if you hit the unlock button and don’t open the doors within a period of time.
