Default Help

I recently added oil to my high mileage 07 scion Tc (160k). I accidentally bought 5w50. Would this be a problem? I normally get it changed at Sears and they do 5w30 I believe. Any recommendations?

Did you just top it up or did you drain and refill? If you did the latter, get it out immediately. If you topped it up by less than say half a quart, it's probably not a huge deal but I'd change it anyway. Oil changes are cheap. Use the right stuff.

Default 5w50

The dip stick was dry, so I added in a quart. My last oil change was 2500 miles ago. And I believe my scion is impacted by the oil consumption recall.
I honestly don't know what I was thinking. I could've sworn I picked up 5w30

Drain it out and fill it up with 5w30. Then take it for the oil consumption test, because you should not have run dry
