The "I AM GETTING / HAVE A NEW tC!!" Thread
#2282
Hi tC gang...
New poster here. Also own a Tacoma and a Prius and have been on those forums for awhile. Considering buying a 1st Gen tC soon and wanted to get the what-what on the good things and bad things to expect from the 1st Gen without spending 18 straight nights wading through the entire board.
Can anyone - perhaps the newly initiated who have found their way - help me cut to the chase on the key threads to focus on? I tried going through the "Must Read" sections, but almost all of those links are dead. Hoping someone can help me with a few key links.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

Bought my 2010 scion tc a month ago and I love it. I can't wait to start my mods. It already came with tinted windows, remote start and after market sound system. I wanna changd the gauge cluster, if anyone in jersey can do it for me, install fog lights, lower it 1.5 inches, black wheels, smoks out the tail lights and install halos. If anyone in jersey can help me out when I get the cash it would be awesome and much appreciated. Also, how do you post pics on here? And does anyone know someone in jersey who does car photoshoots

Wheel/Tire size and offset
Got my 08 tc about 5 months ago and have put quite a bit into it aesthetic wise. I put an HKS exhaust on and a cold air intake. Right now it's sitting on tein springs with a 2" and 2.5" drop. I want to get coilovers and slam it, but I don't know what size wheels/tires to go with. I was told 17"x7" with 40 offset works but I can't rely on the person who told me this. I figured I'd have to get stretched tires but again, not sure on sizing. All advice is welcome. Thanks!

Posted over in the main Intro section...but figured I would copy here too!
Hey Guys!
I'm not new to these forums and wanted to introduce myself. Yesterday I picked up a 2007 Scion tC with just 60k miles on it. Looking forward to putting some work into it as it became my new DD.
My other vehicle is 2004 Jeep Liberty. She's my tow rig (I tow a waverunner), off-road toy, and snow beast. She was my first vehicle. Had her since I was 17. She's been lifted for about a year now and I do all the work to her myself.
Without further ado...here are the rides:
Looking forward to being active on this site.

New Scion tC owner
Hey all... long time Toyota owner, first time Scion owner. I currently have a 2010 Toyota Tundra and needed something for a daily driver to reduce the wear-and-tear on my Tundra. I picked up a 2008 Scion tC yesterday and love it. My best friend has one, so I knew I would like it. Treat a Toyota right (like I do) and they will last forever.
Now... onto the pics!
Here is the new Scion tC (I only have 1 because I bought it yesterday):
Some pics of my other Toyotas (I'm a truck guy). This is my current truck... a 2010 Tundra:
My work paid to have my truck wrapped for a car show and calendar shoot. I have a rough job...
My 1985 4Runner:
My 1998 4Runner:
That's it. I will be posting more pics as time goes on. Looking forward to meeting you guys. Talk to you all soon.

NEED OPINIONS, TIPS, ETC.
I have a 2005 tC with 421,000 miles on it. I don't want to say goodbye, i'd like to throw a used engine in there then start modifying it. So, here are my questions:
1) Can someone who has put a new or new to them engine in their's, please tell me what the process is like? I've spoken with my mechanic uncle about it and he said it's not too complicated but we didn't get much into detail.
2) Good places to get used engines where shipping won't cost me more than the actual engine (I live in Maine).
3) What are some good starting performance mods?
PLEASE HELP

New to Scion, Scionlife.com, and forums in general.
Howdy Folks,
After a recent accident left me scrambling to find a used car for a reasonable price (in California...yeah...good thing I didn't hold my breath), I ended up with a vehicle I had not considered until this point. I wanted a coupe, decent mileage, manual transmission, and something that can be modified without breaking the bank.
Now I am the owner of an older (2005) Black Cherry Pearl Scion tC!
I had my mechanic come up from the Bay Area, and spend the weekend taking everything apart, and seeing how well the vehicle had been maintained (the previous owner really pampered this car). Two weeks and a new timing chain package (guides, chain, tensioners, etc), a completely new cooling system (radiator, hoses, t-stat, water pump, the works...), and some basic tune up stuff (plugs, belt, hoses, stereo head unit, bulbs (LED whenever possible), and an outstanding recall on something having to do with the moonroof, and I find myself thankful I got the Scion instead of the Mini Cooper.
So, I just wanted to stop in and say howdy!
I hope to learn a great deal about my new (used) vehicle here on this site, and I do have a question to ask, and hope I can get something more than "do a search" as a reply.
I can't find any information (yet) on the site about speaker mounting depths. Has anyone been able to install Infinity Kappa components up front, and Infinity Kappa 2-ways in the rear of a 2005-2006 Scion tC, and, if so, any additional advice you might feel inclined to share?
Thank you, and I sincerely hope to use the knowledge y'all have accumulated here to better understand my new ride, and its full potential.
