Default struts/shocks leaking?

I'm sorry if it's the wrong topic. I go in to have my car looked at the guy wanted to charge $1500 for replacing all my struts. I have a 2005 Scion tC. I have a friend that said he customize his car Sick Mazda Miata lowered and everything.
I asked the Mechanic if the struts were leaking he said yes. I leaned on the car and there isn't much of a bounce. I brake the car takes longer but I need new tires. I'll post a estimate of my car and can me someone message me back with some advice.

Because I don't think the car is worth $1500 to put in to it.

That is insaneeee. They're charging you over $1000 in labor for a 1.5 hour job. I need to open up a business coz shocks/struts are super easy to replace lol. For that price just buy coilovers and they'll be a simple bolt-in upgrade.

Ive done suspension on a few tC's, and the rears have always been a pain. But that $1500 price tag, thats absurd.

I'll bet the mechanic is talking about ordering all factory parts from the dealership so the pricing is in line labor wise but the factory parts as massively overpriced for what they are quality wise. Like drizzoh said, you can buy replacement coilovers for the same price if you want to stiffen up the ride and lower it, or you can just order new KYB shocks and struts for about a quarter of the price.
