Default New to the scion game!

Ok guys just to give you some back story, I've always been a Honda guy. I've owned 18 honda's now but nothing newer than 2000. I've had 3 of which were over 350hp with the max being a del sol that pushed 452hp to the wheels. Recently I owned 3 cars and within one month they ALL broke down on me and left me stranded on the side of the road costing me so much money (for towing parts and my time spent fixing them) that I really just wanted a new car. I went to the dealership (where my older brother works) and was looking for a g35, wrx, 350z or something along those lines but with my price range right now I could only afford 03's and 04's with lots of mileage on them.

THEN as I was about to leave with my head down and mopey, I saw this white car. I LOVE white cars. I think they can be made so clean and if done right look AWESOME. So I walk over and it's a 2010 with only 20k on it. I laugh and ask my brother how much he could get it for me. My budget was about 16k and the sticker was 19,995 (and that was before tax title and tags) and he came back laughing with a number I couldn't turn down. PLUS it's still under warranty which I've NEVER had that lol.

Now the problem is I know everything there is to know about honda's I can look at any honda and tell you what parts they have and name brands and all that crap but with this TC I can't seem to find the lip kit I want for sale anywhere and I don't even know the names of any of the kits or anything thats fits this thing so I will be asking TONS of questions here soon.

Now that i'm done boring you to death on with my pictures. I hope this will be my build thread but it will probably be VERY slow going

here is the car the day I purchased it.

I was going to post pictures of my old cars but I don't think anyone cares.

I am in the process of trying to get some coilovers for the car right now (literally talking to someone on this forum right now) and in the near future I want a oem lip kit and fogs

I will post more pictures when there is more progression.

Welcome to Scion I'm quite a Honda guy myself, but I love driving the tC, such a fun car to drive, and it's a Toyota so it's reliable :D

In for progress, and I would like to see pics of your old cars

And this one I truly miss. Sold it to pay for my wedding. 99 SI with JDM recaros, JDM b18c Type R swap, and full system,
Not the fastest but I thought it was the best looking and feeling when I drove it.

Welcome bro! Interesting background you have. 412 on 9 pounds is insane! haha. I agree, that blue si was clean. Enjoy your stay here bro. and congrats, father to be.

Just curious, what lip kit are you looking for?

Yes the stealership wanted 20 grand for a used scion lol.

See that's the thing I don't know the name of the lip kit I saw that I liked so much. I think it was oem but not like the normal oem lip I see. If it comes down to it I may just stick with the regular oem but still not sure.

I will try to find a picture of the kit I want and you guys can point me in the right direction to get it lol.

I hate H22 swaps in civics lol. sorry just too big and too many modifications need to be done for a very minimal gain over a b18 that it's just not worth it. Now no K series swaps made me sad haha.

I just purchased some Function and Form type II coilovers. Hopefully they are good quality and decent ride.

Welcome to SL! I'm on function & form type II's quality is good and so is the ride. Even though I removed 2 collars and compressed my spring it's still pretty good. I also am a Honda guy and went through the same things so got rid of them and went to something reliable and ended with a scion which I thought I would have never modified but got bit by the mod bug. Lol

Honestly I don't really like them. I have seen some people that have the ones that go in the window track and they look nicer and cleaner imo. Mine are the kind that are double sided taped to the outside of the door and I don't really like they way they look but I am worried I won't be able to get all the crap off the doors if I try to remove them so for now. They will stay.

I do want to have visors though because I like the fact I can still get fresh air while it's raining so almost all of my cars end up with them on. The civic ones were awesome because there are factory mounting holes where they mount and they look flush to the car.

I don't smoke which I think is why most people get them but I like fresh air even when it's freezing outside. I will run the head but have the windows cracked lol.

Welcome to SL. I am a honda owner myself, I have a 03 EP3, a 2003 Honda RC51 1000R, and a 2008 CBR 1000rr. I also have a boosted scion tC.

My personal opinion is that honda makes damn good products. I am not a hater of any auto brands. Some people here are really brand loyal, while others appreciate all different types of nice cars.

good luck on your new tC. Tons of info to be found here.

yeah welcome muffinman! A lot of us were Honda owners before. Honda wasn't delivering the fun like they used to, it's what got me interested in the tC back in the day.

I miss the fun cars that Honda used to have like the CRX Si, or the del sol. A targa top and that rear window went down!! Awesome stuff right there. I did drive a 99 Si before, you're right, that platform was dialed in. Very easy to drive and very responsive.

So yeah welcome to the club! nice to have you here. You'll appreciate the tC, it's the easiest most DIY-friendly car you've ever worked on. Even easier than the Honda. No joke.. More I work on it, the easier things are!

Welcome to the family. I was a VW guy and I got sick of those things nickel and diming me. So I bought the scion on a whim and fell in love, it's a charming little car. Great in the snow which surprised me.

Thanks guys.

Now I found a white one with the kit I want (which I think is one style of the OEM kits Still not sure on that) but now I am not too sure I like it.

What front lip is this, and would you prefer this or the OEM
https://www.scionlife.com/gallery/?photo=69125

and this is the OEM one right? If so how would I go about ordering it is there a name for it or a model that it came on?
