Scion "xC" on Car and Driver.com
Car and driver put out this info on the Future Product Intelligence Database
http://www.caranddriver.com/default.asp?section_id=47&numFPIYear=2005&cdYear=2005&strFPIMake=&cdMake=&strFPIModel=
"2005 Scion xC 3-door version of Corolla T-sport from Europe with giant sunroof and 157-hp 2.4-liter engine."
I looked up the t-sport, and it's the RUNX in Japan.

That would be pretty nice. Although not a radical body style like the xB. I'm looking at the T-Sport Corolla on the Toyota UK site. 3 Door Hatchback. 140 mph top speed. 1.8 L VVTL-i 192ps (141kw) 133ft/lbs 34 mpg etc etc. But a 2.4 liter 157 hp.. Wondering if it'll be based on that. I like the way it looks. The rear reminds me of the 96-02 hatchback civics.

Sounds cool! But how right are they? They are the auto pres and do have some ins but I would not take this as the gosple truth.

It very well might be correct although I would suspect that there will be different bumpers for sure and perhaps even slightly different sheetmetal. It will most likely have styling taken from the ccX concept car{side swoops and fenderflares for instance}. I am excited to see what it really does look like and just how it will be set up.
There was some other news listed on that page:
2005 Toyota Celica A redesign is scheduled - mild most likely.
2005 Toyota Corolla A restyling is expected - mild for sure.
2005 Toyota Echo Expected to be redesigned as a hatchback like the European Yaris - ITS ABOUT TIME! Most likely the Vitz/Yaris are going to be revamped/restyled and we will get a version of it. The coupe and sedan built off of it might very well be killed , sales are slow all over for what we get called the Echo.
2005 Toyota Matrix An RSC rally version may join the lineup - wonder what all this will have? Perhaps a Matrix set up to take on the EVO?
2005 Toyota MR2 Spyder May die at end of 2004 - oh no! I would love to have one of those even though you can hardly put two people in it , but they look so cool and it is a true sports roadster. Perhaps though this can work to an advantage for Scion? Maybe later a roadster can be added to the lineup!

It seems that the Japanese version comes with the 1NZ-FE (1.5L VVT-1), 1ZZ-FE (1.8L VVT-i) and the 2ZZ-GE (1.8L VVTL-i) only, no 2.4L. This is promising because the engine interchangability might mean the Celica engine might drop in without a problem.
We still don't know if this is only the BASIS for the new tC or if it is a simple rebadge.

i doubt that the runx or the t-sport will be brought over...the talk is that this new third model will created here...it will not be a re-badge...or a re-name...plus the runx looks alot like the mid 90s hatch back civic...Scion is moving forward...not backwards...i'd say...expect something else...but thats me...
