Default Exhaust

I have a custom S-pipe and mid section exhaust on my 2014 Scion Tc. The pipe is pressure bent. I was thinking about buying one that's premade for the car, which is mandrel bent. Which one should I get and have the most gain, the S-pipe of the mid section?

Something I noticed about the tc2 exhaust is that it expands and contracts in sizes through out the system. This is pretty much to add back pressure and help develop low end torque. So keep in mind, that you'll be loosing some low end torque by upgrading.

That being said, I just ordered a CNT Racing midpipe for mine. I plan to try and do the S pipe soon, but am hoping to retain the OEM rear section with the pipe expanded at the U bend to the muffler. Trying to keep it somewhat quiet. This is the first car I've owned that hasn't had the full loud pipe treatment, and I've been enjoying it. Sure it's nice to hear where you are RPM wise, but eh, also nice to hear the radio and such with the windows down.

So what TC do you have? So I was thinking about just getting the CNT Racing S-pipe.

2014 Monogram 6spd.

My mid pipe should be here tomorrow, and if there is any quality issues, I'll let you know.

But what should I really get the CNT midpipe or the S-Pipe?

Why not both? I am starting with the mid pipe for the simple reason of it replaces the most amount of pipe, and where it needs it the most (over OEM pipe) as well as deletes the 2nd CAT. But that's just my opinion.

Which one will benefit more the S-Pipe or the mid-pipe?

More than likely the mid pipe. Again, it's more pipe.

So having both the CNT S-pipe and mid-pipe I will lose low end torque?

More than likely. You'll probably gain a few ponies on the top side, but depending on what you plan to do with the car that'll either hurt you, or help you.

I'm building a more road racing/back road/autocross build. I'm looking for good mid-range to high range HP. To me, and how I drive, there is more than enough torque on the bottom end, and in the future, I'll probably be running a 6-7psi turbo set up.

Have you noticed any difference after the mid pipe?

Lots of noise. (actually need to crawl under there and bind the heat shield up a bit thanks to a rouge possum in the road. lol)

Low end torque seems unchanged (via butt dyno). Still spins 2nd gear pretty good. High end much better. Revs much cleaner and smoother past 3500RPM. Maybe a few ponies from it, but not enough to brag about.

And the ricer in me loves the very low revs (sub division revs) because it's insanely deep sounding. Then after about 2500 RPMS it gets a bit ricey until about 3500rpms (around VVTi) then the rasp leaves, and gets a good sound to it. I don't know if you watched it, but I posted a video and review in its own thread. CNT Racing Mid Pipe Only is the title.

Does the mid pipe touch the heat shield?

no, but mine got bent down some after road kill hit it, so now it does when the exhaust shakes. Easy fix, just been lazy.

None. Straight forward install, fits up nicely. Tackled it in about an hour using an electric impact, 14mm socket, and a flat head screw driver.

Definitely sounds like a better option than piecing your own mid pipe together with pieces from CT or Part Source.
I've thought about just straight piping the second cat and resonator but this looks like a more reliable idea.
I've gotta check that video out to hear it

I'm not the type to tell someone what to do to their car, but for the sake of everyone with in 2 miles of your car, do not straight pipe it. It's sooooooo bad sounding.

The custom mid pipe the hanger is not that thick, so when the rpms come back down after revving you can feel vibration underneath the car. So if I have the CNT midpipe the vibration won't be that much.
