^truth...when you're sitting in with the finance guy and you tell him you don't care about warranties and service plans, the look on their face is like you just spit in their mac&cheese. If you really want to send them into panic mode, tell them you don't want gap insurance. It's just too much for their business mind to handle.

The STI is great, but I prefer an inline 4 and the best one made is the Mitsubishi EVO motor.

I'm laughing at all the race car comments...like ANY car in your price range is a race car right off the show room floor. That includes Evo's and STI's. The turbo tC not being faster than a stock STI is funny too....

So I'm seriously thinking about slapping a turbo on my tC. The tC is surprisingly nimble on the track, but straight-line speed is killing me. Accelerating onto the freeway and not being able to get past a Tundra who decides to punch it is like nails on a chalkboard. A bone-stock Dodge Ram 1500 blowing me away from a stoplight is a slap in the face. And I'm in Phoenix and we all know what little acceleration our car has disappears with the A/C on, so... I have a question for those of you who've already added a turbo.

What are your 0-60 mph times? 1/4 mile? 40-70?

I'm looking at my options and adding $5K+install to my tC puts me into the same price range as a WRX which does 0-60 in ~5.4 sec, so I would expect something close out of my tC.

Thanks

Unfortunately, since my setup has changed so quickly in a short span of time, I wouldn't be able to give an accurate portrayal of what you would see in terms of 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc. with the standard bolt-on and go kits the current companies offer. That, and I have no substantial proof of my unofficial times at the airstrip last year. There may be 3-4 other turbocharged tC2's out there on the forum and hopefully they can chime in. Though, I'm fairly sure that with any of the available kits, you'll be able to take on a WRX no problem.

I spent a ____ ton of money on my tc ( like I said before). I also live in PHX AZ, with that said, I've decided to stop spending money on my tc. Right now....

0-60. About 6.5
1/4. In 12.350
Now 40-70 is fast! Viper fast! My car is extremely fast but only from a 30 roll to 140 something (bigger wheels, no standalone). Also it handles great. I've HW raced a 5.0 mustang and Nismo 370, among the fastest that I've beat. But, I'm tired of being complete ____ off the line!!! Also I want to get sideways!!! To be faster off the line I need to dedicate another 8k? Flywheel, clutch, LSD, wider front tires/wheels, and cv joints. Maybe drop one second off my 0-60.

That's why I've decided I'm selling my tc and moving on to a AWD, supercharged H6. The 3.6 Subaru legacy, plus a raptor supercharger. Good for 465 AWD WHP!!!! Yeah I'm losing my agility, but I'm picking up a ton of fun and four doors ( I have a kid and another on the way).

Sorry scionlife I'm out!

You need to figure in the cost of the clutch and LSD upgrades too MightyP.
BleackOne hit the nail on the head! I was figuring that would be the end result after a ton of money is thrown at the Tc. It's still not RWD or AWD. Plus getting good torque below 2500 rpms requires serious dough or more displacement.

Turbo is a BIG commitment, don't half-a$$ it, go big or go home... more idioms,etc,etc...

A tC with a snail spitter can be stupid fast, but you will need to build it up... AND keep in mind your class will change, so you will then be competing against other cars in AX...may not be as fun, dunno.

I gave that a LOT of thought before ditching my tC, and I have to say, getting a car that has turbo stock is such a glorious change from the NA engine. The advantage the tC has over what I did... 2.5l vs 2.0l so there is that.

Maybe it's tuned wrong. I have an auto tC2 with a TRD intake and a Descendant exhaust. I make it to 60 in 7.3 seconds and that's at an elevation of 1,200 ft.

Just FYI,

Dealer says the automatic tC2 will do 0-60 in 7.4s and 1/4mile in 15.8 @88mph; Manny will do 0-60 in 7.5s and 1/4mile in 15.1 @92mph

Still think the $1400 you spent on parts are worth .1 second? I've spent $14,000 on parts. But, dont get it twisted, i love my car.

Times are subjective. Many review sites listed it at 8 sec.
One site tested the car in death valley on a cool day and it got to 60 in 6.5 sec stock for manual. Denser air.
On a fwd car you cant really expect to be fast off the line even with a LSD. The inertia from your engine will always pick your car up.

What are some real 0 to 60 times for a Turbo tC. Does anyone know any they would like to share for their car?

I know for 36k you could get a used 2008 V8 C63 AMG that will ____ on your Subaru. So using the oh this car stock is faster idea can go both ways.

You would be a lot faster than a Stock WRX. Off the line AWD is going to out launch you, but you would run it down easily.

PS....this thread is super old bud.

Do you know the maintenance costs of an AMG? My buddy has a C63 AMG, not cheap to maintain.

i know this is an old post but hey for $36,000 you can also buy a G35X, Twin Turbo it to gain addition 250hp rated at 450+ hp that will smoke any STi,

or you can get the Ford Mustang Shelby GT550, which outputs at 550 hp.
