Hey guys,

I've been driving my 2014 tC for a while and I'm wondering if anyone has tips for a smoother upshift/downshift.

I kind have a habit of dumping the clutch sometimes but its not very often as I don't drive a whole lot these days.

The smoothest shift points I found are somewhere between 2k-2.5k RPM 3K is ok but not the best from what I've found.

I know the clutch on this car is pretty light and I've driven my cousin's Lan Evo once but the clutch he had was way heaver then again its a performance sedan

Anyone have suggestions?

hold your clutch at the catch point for longer than you normally would, rev match. that's about it.

Theoretically, if you rev match perfectly you can do it without a clutch.

But depending on how long it takes you to shift, you may want to blip the throttle right before you come out of gear, that way it doesn't dip to much in the process of shifting.

I hear people talk about shifting without a clutch if you do it right. Its not worth the risk for me to even try. Sometimes if I catch a red light I can pull out of gear without the clutch, but I would never attempt to go IN GEAR with no clutch.

I find shifting smoothest after I hammer it and let off the throttle. The gear almost gets sucked into the next gear, very nice.

I am by no means suggesting anyone shift without the clutch. Haha. Just pointing out that it is possible.

Racecars only use the clutch to get going. After that no clutch; but then again, they use dog rings not synchronous gears.
