Default Brakes upgrade......

I was thinking of upgrading my brakes with EBC red pads(DP31792C) & possibly the rotors with EBC slot series(USR7387) but I can get pads for the rear(DP31947C) but unable to find rear rotors of the same caliber
I need to do the rear brakes as they have seized and ruined the rotors so the upgrade to superior brakes and less dust is in the works.
What upgrades have you done without going the bigger caliper toyota route?

FR-S rotors might be an upgraded version of the tC's?

If turning the discs are overpriced or unable, what do you recommend? Lots of choices out there. Probably everyone will say OEM!

StopTech makes rear rotors for the tC2.

Yep, both slotted and drilled.

Yup, don't waste your money turning rotors...new stoptech/centric rotors will be a fraction of that price.

I have the slotted StopTech rotors with EBC redstuff pads on the front. Still have OE rotors with posiquiet ceramic pads in the rear.

I don't recommend redstuff pads. Even though they have pretty good bite, they are noisy as hell. Another member had the same complaint about greenstuffs as well. I recommend posi quiet ceramics on the front and rear.

As far as rotors go, save your money and go with Centric premium (non-slotted/drilled) rotors. They are better than OE quality and are only $35 a piece with free shipping on eBay. This is versus $75 a piece for the StopTech slotted rotors. The rotors are literally identical except for the slotting. Centric owns StopTech.

Totally save the money for better brake pads. Centric rotors should be good enough. I have a mechanic friend that has told me that buying new rotors under $35 a piece is way cheaper than paying someone to take off the rotors and turn them.
I find Akeebono ceramic pads pretty decent and very low dusting. From what I have read, drilled rotors might have a tendency to crack (or be weaker than blank rotors) and slotted rotors increases the wear on the brake pads with minimal increase in performance. This is based from what I have been told, read, and seen myself.

Rockauto.com for parts.

Akebono pads and Eurorotor rotors on 4 corners. Crossing my fingers for good results.... I'll be keeping a eye on the slide pins as they were the rear rotor/pads seizing up problems. The joy's of rear calipers/winter syndrome!

I have the stoptech drilled/slotted fronts with the ebc ultimax pads those things bite hard but only thing I cant stand is the noise at low speed braking.

The rear sliding pins are giving me fits, done them in spring and due again in fall. My brother's matrix has the same problem. Not normal to me, must be a toyota under design problem.
Anyone else having this problem?

My outside brake pads(both) were wearing out on a angle, strange. They're loose on the brake kit slides so I'm stumped! I got to get some new pads and I'm going back to OEM. The slide pins are moving so they aren't seized .

I am surprised so many people mentioned turning rotors is expensive. The local shop only charges me $20 each. I take them off myself.

Every time i had rotors turned it seemed like they would warp before i got close to full use out of the 2nd set of pads. Since i started replacing pads and rotors at the same time, I barely remember what having warped rotors was like. To me i see that as a savings, because now I get about 100,000 miles out of my brakes, instead of changing them at 50,000 because I'm tired of the pulsing car and brake pedal. Just my $.02

You bring up a great point. I have seen where the shop will turn the rotors all the way down to their minimum spec in thickness. That would easily cause warping to happen at a faster rate.
