If the Radio frequency is right I dont see a problem....Sanchez feel free to chime in, seems like you have a pretty good handle on this stuff.

Not really sure. That remote looks a lot like the xD remote which I am still trying to figure out if it will work with our cars. I still need the FCC ID from an xD owner, I'll make a post in the xD section and see if I get any replies. But even if the xD remotes do work for our xA's, the remote you found has some minor difference in the design which leads me to believe that it's not an official scion remote and won't work. Here is a pic of the xD remote for comparison. Also, buyer beware, as we've seen from anubisthorbaal's case, not all sellers know what they're talking about when they say "works with scions"

Not 100% on this but I think a remote has to be on the same frequency and the same code type (the code that the remote sends out). So I think it's possible for a remote to not work even though transmitter and receiver operate on the same frequency. I'm thinking that the xD remote will work for our xA because car companies typically use the same signal receivers from previous car models, and if thats the case that it would mean the xD and xA could have interchangeable remotes.

And for anyone who wants it, here is a higher resolution pic of the 2006 xA remote:

Bad news everyone, the xD remotes operate on the 312.5 MHz frequency, so no interchangeability for us.

Thanks for the research. I just though it would be more uptodate look to have the key and fob in one unit vs the way it is if possible.

sanchez, I cant find it now.. but in another post someplace you had a link to the FCC page that showed all the fcc data associated with a specific fcc number. Do you still have that link?

Possibly, I've never actually seen a tC key before.

You can find info on any product with an FCC ID here: https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/...ericSearch.cfm
Just type the first 3 letters of the ID in the first field, and the remaining digits in the 2nd and click "start search".

thanks sanchez

well, here is the guts of the new remote
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/oet/f...ive_or_pdf=pdf

Looks like, from the fcc site, the new remote TG is the transmitter keyfob and the RG is the receiver in the car.
