Scion xA can tow!
Finally finished building my trailer. My scion is now my track day bike hauler...
The trailer and bike weight about 800 pounds total. I haven't been on the highway yet, but in the city it doesn't feel like you are towing anything.

I see a lot of xA's with hitches on them around here. I have seen a couple of xD's with them... besides mine, of course. I have never seen one tow anything, but most of them did have tow ***** on them, so not just for bike racks.
I'll be towing my camper to a state park this weekend with the xD.

I joined this forum just to contribute to this thread.
It took me forever, but I found a hitch that installed onto my xA with no required modifications or welds.. I just had to unbolt the two tow "fin" things underneath.
Since then, I have towed my 12' aluminum v-hull boat, a 15 cu ft chest freezer, firewood and all the PA equipment for my band... having driven the PA gear two hours south of me and back on the interstate.
As much as I complain about this car, it's a little workhorse. And it fits on and stays on top of slowsled trails. I'll have to find the picture, but my Scion is parked out in the middle of the woods, on top of the snow. It's a great shot too. :-)

I, too, joined this forum to comment on this threat. I got my Curt hitch installed with no problem. But when I accelerate, the outer (larger) part of the exhaust rattles against the bottom of the hitch. It looks like this is only a problem during acceleration. Has anyone else had this problem? If the exhaust hung either out or down about another centimeter, it would be no problem. It's not big bother, actually - my bother-in-law thought I had installed glass packs.

I love the utility trailer! Been in the market for one ever since I got my xA. I don't want to spend more than $100 though, and I do not have a good place to store it.
But I really like the idea of being able to convert my little xA into a pickup truck in two minutes time!

I would not go over 1000# total, trailer and load. Maybe even less depending on the hills in the area. Stop and go traffic in hills would really beat up the car.
Keep in mind the small motor and TINY brakes. Have to get it going and then have to stop it. The brakes can fade very quickly.
Of course, some sort of trailer braking system would help that.
