Who is left on here with an xA?

I just found this site while researching towing with my xA. I have an 06 that I bought new, and just hit 100,000 miles last week. I was getting ready to trade it in on a truck, but I really only need a truck to haul 300 pound arcade games once in a while. This car has been so reliable that I don't really want to risk something else right now.
If the towing idea works out, I think I will keep the car for a while. It really has been a great car.

I installed a Curt trailer hitch on the car, and tested it out on a ~420 mile trip from Boise, Id to Reno, NV. I rented a 4 x 8 enclosed trailer from u-haul, and loaded it with an arcade game (Omega Race). I was actually really surprised at how well the xA pulled this trailer. I didn't baby the car at all, and it made it with no issues.
The steepest hills were 6%, and I could hold 50mph @3000rpm in 4th gear. At that incline, if I downshifted to 3rd, I could accelerate to 55 @4500 RPM and 60 @5000rpm. I didn't try to push harder than that. I found 55 to be adequate unless I needed to pass a truck, so I only pushed it harder when needed. A friend made the same trip without pulling a trailer, and I was only about 20 minutes slower for the trip. Not bad at all pulling around 1150 pounds with a little 103hp car.
I plan to keep the car since it passed this test so well. I still averaged 20mph for the trip, and I was traveling at 70mph most of the way. My foot was on the floor most of the time on anything but flat or downhill.

this was my post from 12/2014:
My 2007 Xa 3.0RS just hit 60k! Gone through 2 batteries, 2 sets of brakes, lots of wipers. I just got two new tires on tirerack to replace my front tires back ones got replaced 2 yrs ago. Fresh mobil 1 extended perf oil change too. This week I had to do a redo on my output shaft seal since it was still leaking. I originally had used a non oem part and 8 mnths later it started leaking. So got the toyota part this time. Went ahead and got mobil 1 syn gear oil too. Also replaced front sway bushings since they were rotted out from New England living. Boy do those bushings make a difference on ride quality! geez.
Brake fluid is still original and looking clear still. Radiator fluid looks good too.
I'm now at 81K. Turning 10 yrs old next year. Living in a different state and Xa still going strong
Just replaced rear driver's side bearing yesterday. Started howling out of nowhere. Still using mobil 1 extended sync oil, had my belts replaced as preventative maintenance, and lots of tire rotations. Also just put in new spark plugs as well. I've stopped using Ingles and Kroger gas b/c it sucks.
Great little car who hasn't let me down.
Happy Holidays everyone!

I don't come on scionlife that much anymore (just to look up the occasional thing), but I still have my 2006 blue Scion xA which I picked up new in Louisiana on December 18, 2006. I live in Texas but ordered one from a Louisiana dealer to avoid the holes in the front bumper for the license plate.
I haven't owned alot of cars, but the xA has been by far the best made car I have ever owned. I only have 85k miles, but it still looks and runs great.
I do have a slight "clunk" noise occasionally in the front (sometimes when I start accelerating). Maybe something with the suspension or tie rods.
I really hope the xA keeps running strong. I don't see anything I would want to replace it with. It isn't fast, but it is very light, feels like it handles well (I'm guessing because it is so light and has a stiff suspension), and is geared for fun driving (I have the manual). I had a decent sports car before I got the xA which was much faster and fancier, but I think I have more fun driving the Scion (though I guess I miss people telling me my car looks cool). I don't know of any cars like the xA today. I don't value most "features" found in almost every car today. The xA is simple, reliable, and fun.
I did buy a Ford F150 almost three years ago because I wanted something better for camping and fishing with my young sons. However, I have only put 7500 miles on the truck in that time. I would always rather drive the much older xA than the truck unless I need the truck for "truck" things.

Just Bought
I just bought a 2004 xA 02/09/2017, 1 owner 77k miles on it. The car drives amazing and looks amazing. older car like this thread but in good condition so im all for it. i will be looking over the threads to see useful info but looks like most are outdated today but still hold good info for people like me that just buy the older models.

Still have my xA, at 206465miles. Just had a hose for EVAP purge replaced for dry rot leak. Drive on interstate @ 75MPH 90% of the time... still getting 38MPH average. Here is a nice option for more space and more power (know they will tow 1500lbs.)..Toyota Previa (stock photo in upper right).

My wife and I got our '05 in '07. It was our only car for a few years and treated us well. It has 175k on it now.
Now that we have a few cars, the XA is used as a backup when one of the other cars is down for maintenance or repairs.
** Also, I just realized after posting this that this was my first post! I've been a member since '09 and never posted? Never realized I was just a lurker.

'06 XA, Had it for 3 years, 120k+ miles
Got my little XA a few years ago, and even though it had multiple owners, I got it with around 83K miles on it. Been a great, reliable, fun vehicle, and I'm trying to fix up a few things & give it a little TLC.
If anyone has a good source for side mirror covers, I'd love to know it!
