Have a 2006 that intermittently made a knocking sound and also makes noises from the roof rack. The vibration of the roof rack happens if the car is in gear and stopped, put in neutral, normal driving, etc.....the knocking that just seem to start will stop if the AC is turned off.

I am starting to suspect motor mounts but not sure how to verify that this is the cause (the knocking is very intermittent but again goes away if the AC is turned off)
