You can slightly hear it accelerating normally . on WOT you'll hear it a little more but imho ... it's not that much louder. probably 5 dbs guesstimating louder. I don't know how the stock one sounds because i got the xB with the AEM installed. But keeping speed on the highway you won't even notice it.

with normal driving there is really no sound difference with an intake.

I barely notice anything inside, I just don't like the little whining noise when the car is still and your standing outside. It's not loud or anything but to me it makes the car sound like it's an electric vehicle. Like you just plugged in the tv, turn it on with no channel, and if you listen closely, you can hear that little high pitched tone. It's nothing, I just have really sensitive ears.

I've had a TRD exhaust only on....too loud @ 65-70MPH.
Then AEM+TRD......loud no change.
Now AEM only, stock exhaust.......quiet except @WOT. AHHHHHH! much better.
better bottom end without the exhaust too, I like it MUCH better.

No whistle at all....just a VERY slight "hiss" at idle if you're standing in front of the car. The "hiss" is just the K&N stlye air filter allowing you to hear the enigne breathing. Same as if you take an air filter off an engine.
Other than that....there is a nice sound @WOT above5000RPM.
I highly recommend the AEM...good stuff.

I have a manifold back exhaust with no intake yet. Thats why I am wondering if it is loud with an exhaust. I am using the Magnaflow mirrior finish muffler with a ___ tip. Here is the link to the pics.
http://scionxb.net/index_files/styli...is_exhaust.htm
It is completly quiet at high RPMs
