Default Guage Installation

Please help with question regarding Autotechnic Guage installation. I am installing the S7 dimensional guage face. Also, install matching face plate water temperature and oil pressure. A couple of questions:

1. Do you remove the stock face plate or leave it in place and install the Autotechnic face plate over the stock one? It looks like if you remove the stock face there will be gaps aroung the needles.

2. I need to remove the gas needle in order to trim the backside for clearance. What is the best method for removing the needle?

3. I purchased an E-Pod for installing the oil pressure and water temp guages at the top side of the steering column. I have installed them and not all that happy with the appearance. Now that I have the stock guage cluster removed, I am contemplating installing them in dash to the left of the stock guage cluster, directly in front of the driver position. I would like to know if anyone has done this or anybody else's thoughts regarding this placement and look.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks, does your gas guage line up precisely at empty when the ignition is off, or does it drop below the empty mark?
