Default alignment after lowering

ok i know you need to get your car re-aligned after installing lowering springs
but is it ok to drive say 30 miles with the springs freshly installed
cause where im goin to get them done at a buddys house
he lives 30 miles down the highway from me
and we probably wont get them installed fast enough to head to a shop to get them aligned
and i was just gonna do it friday mourning
somewhere near me

You need to allign to prevent tire wear. 30 miles is not going to be any problem. You should get all four alligned.

Many people on this site will tell you that you don't even need an alignment with a mild drop. I am about to lower my wife's xB tomorrow and plan on having the alignment CHECKED eventually. Why do I say eventually? Because I want to give the springs time to settle. A week should be enough. I would do that if I were you. And if you can help it, try to keep your miles down for that week.

Then take it to a good alignment shop that knows how to deal with lowered cars. Tell them you want them to check the alignment to make sure it is within spec. Ask if they will give you a reduced cost just to check it. That way you aren't out the cost of an alignment if you don't need it. And if you happen to need one, you can just pay the difference.

Best to do it as soon as possible, but there's no danger in it. The amount your alignment could be off from springs alone might make your tires wear uneven in about a year, that's all. Do it soon, but your safe.
