Default How to Turn Off Traction Control / VCS?

OK, sorry if this is in the wrong forum..

I just wanna know is there a way to turn off traction control AND VCS? I noticed when I turn off Traction Control (via the button)
and take a turn hard.. the VCS light (the car with the sliding deal icon) still pops up. Does that impede the car or control the car?
I'm guessing it might? Can I turn off VCS AND Traction Control completely? Or is Trac Off already doing that?

Thanks all.

When you turn traction control off via the dash button, VSC stays on. VSC is not meant to be able to be turned off by the owner/operator of the vehicle. But I do remember a few people on here finding (though accidentally) a way to turn it off. Hopefully one of them will chime in.

Geez, are you trying to see if you can roll it or what?

I don't know if its wise to push the limits of the traction control to the point where you have to turn it off... But that's just my opinion

Please excuse Hahajoey...he always wanted to be a 'drifter' but he couldn't achieve that status in his previous car, a 2000 Honda CR-V.

He likes to pull his handbrake around corners alot and scare passengers while he does his Takumi Fujiwara imitations around So. Cal...making real drifters run and hide in mountainsides.

You can turn it off--but it's not meant to be user accessable.

So you probably will have to get down underneath the car and disconnect something.

Until then--you can continue pulling your handbrake and skidding into driveways.

yea its some work wheel.. i was looking thru some JDM sites and i cropped that picture.. i like that design and MASSIVE LIP!

anyways.. vcs feels like it i dunno like is slowing the car down a little if the tires
are skidding. i just wanna know if theres a fuse.. or a connector..
or like a way to turn it off?
i know that the new m3 has a traction control button. IF U HOLD IT DOWN..
for a while.. it actually takes it into a REAL traction control OFF not just
traction control.. but like VCS or wahtever that car has..

i dunno but anybody's idea's will help! didn't someone dyno their car
at moda car and bbist(steve) or someone like got rid of the VCS problem during
dyno? anyways let me know

I did not really post this (Because driving without it is dangerous) but to turn off the VCS which is connected to the ABS system you have to pull the fuse which is in the engine compartment.

Again it is dangerous but that is how you do it.

i was GOING to do that but i was worried that if
i disconnected that fuse.. the ABS light would show up
and then i wouldn't be able to disable the light(u know like SRS AIRBAGS)..
just wanted to make sure before i try that.. and without VCS.... and abs
or whatever. the car will just be a regular.. NO ANYTHING.. just GO/BRAKE
right? no TCS/VCS none of that stuff.. i just wanna see the difference...
I AM NOT A RACER, IM NOT AN AUTO X'er..
i'll leave that up to stevie bbist..
i just wanted to know. thanks all

When i was installing my TRD Short Shfiter I found a box that held the gyro for the VCS. I'm wondering if it would be possible to unplug it and see what happens. I've been lazy and havent tried it.

Sorry to bump a super old thread. I need to know this information as well. What I do probably isn't considered drifting, but my, pretty much, and I don't use the E brake to do it. It's all in your shifting. The VSC makes it less safe because I have to end up jerking my wheel to maintain control where I should be making smooth transitions into my corners.

It's tempting to create a dash switch for this action.

Lordy I can’t believe what kind of brain dead responses you were getting for such a simple question lol no you don’t need to be pulling fuses and ____ what the hell are people talking about!? lol You can’t turn off the traction control on the freeway. It xan only to be done under a certain amount of speed. You could look that up in the owners manual but I always just do it from a stop. Literally all you do is look on the lower left corner of your dash for the traction control bottom (mines an 09 xB 5 speed) & all you have to do is tap the button to turn off the traction control and you hold it down for a couple few seconds instead to turn off the traction and VSC. That’s literally all it is. I’m losing brain cells reading some of these responses lol and no you cannot drift front wheel drive cars people.. lol I bought this thing 20 minutes ago and apparently I know more about it than half of these diehard xB fans.. & actually no, I have owned 3 of these cars but this is the first 5 speed manual second GEN I’ve owned. Cool car though. I was hoping for a little bit more performance but not too bad for 26 mpg on average! And I only paid $4500 for it. Super clean little box too

Well, your response was to a 19+ year old post...I'm guessing the OP, at a minimum, has figured out how to turn it off by now and, in all likelihood, doesn't need to worry about as I doubt they still own the car.
