Default Shifted belt in tire...

So i went and had my tires balanced today (snow tires) and it turns out that one has a shifted belt? I have read that this is bad but how bad i don't know.

The rear (where it is now) vibrates and i don;t see any bubbles but it was asking for 7 ounces of counterweight on the machine...

I do know i cannot afford to get my other rear tires put on yet so am i safe on this thing till 2 weeks from now?

TIA!

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Nooooooooooooo.

That tire is dangerous and should not be driven on. I had a tire with a defective belt *explode* on the freeway. There was a 8" wide hole in the tread part of the tire, and it ripped the trim around the wheelwell off and damn near tore the back bumper off.

When I was young and crazy, I had a motorcycle tire tread separate from its internals (belt). It was squirrely at low speed, but stabilized at high speed. It happened on a Friday night in central Kansas, so I kept going 5 more hours to get to a motorcycle shop in the morning.

Your handling will be very unsafe in a car weighing another ton. Get the tire fixed immediately.
