Anybody still frequent here? Now that Scion is dead, will this place die too?

Default Anybody still frequent here? Now that Scion is dead, will this place die too?

Sorry, feeling too nostalgic.

I'd been away from here for a few years. I was actually even going to sell my xB. I bought a
Dodge Challenger in 2012, and the xB became my wife's car mostly. Now she got a new RAV4.

I started to tinker with and fix up the old xB with the intention of getting ready to sell it. I bought it new on August 5th, 2003 (yes I still remember the date).
It's funny, I was cleaning it up and doing a few things, driving it around, and realized how much i still love this old box. I decided that I can't sell this thing.

I'm in the process of fixing a few neglected things, and will keep this thing for as long as it can move. I hope there are others out there that still feel love for their old xBs.

It's a truly unique vehicle, and it IS the vehicle that made Scion. Look at their sales and statistics and you'll see that it's true. They had this one truly unique and amazing little vehicle that broke all rules and standard for cars. Then they ended it. The death of the xB "Classic" really was the beginning of the end for Scion. Everything they've sold since have just been cars. There hasn't been a reason since 2007 to even call these vehicles anything other than Toyota cars. They shouldn't have even called the Gen2 the xB. And if they had to, then the original should simply be referred to as the "Scion classic", because that's what it is. There was nothing on these shores like it before, and the Cubes, Souls, and whatever else comes along, they all seem like bad copies. They don't offer that same feeling and joy of driving that these insane little boxes give.

I plan to keep mine forever, and I hope that there are others who feel the same way.

I'm still driving mine; it's an '06 (bought in Sept '05) and has around 60K miles. It takes me to work, then home, then to work, then Home Depot, then the grocery store, then home. Repeat, repeat, repeat . . . .

Will I sell it? Probably. When it's worn out . . . which will be in about 20 years from now at the rate it's been going....

I LOVE this little car more than any car I've ever owned.

Truth is I Love this car so much! I plan to hold on to it now that it has become a collectors piece.

I have been saving my coin for a Tesla, but I am not giving up my xB ever!

I originally bought my first xB (a 2006 5 speed) back in 2007 when gas went through the roof. I put over 100,000 miles on that one, then sold it to my son. I originally thought the xB was the ugliest car I'd ever seen. One test drive though and I fell in love with it.

After selling my first one, I bought a second 2006 5 speed that I am still driving with 65,000 miles on it. I will drive this one until the wheels fall off or until I find another 2006 5 speed to replace it. There is simply nothing else out there that's a fun to drive, is as durable or gets better mileage.

Oh, and one funny thing. I've owned and driven a lot of cars in my 60 years. I have never driven anything that gets so many thumbs up or pictures taken of it. People absolutely love the TOASTRR license plates. I can't count the number of times I've looked in my mirrors to find somebody snapping a picture on their phone with a huge grin on their face.

I don't frequent this forum anymore, but I intend(ed) to drive mine until it disintegrates. I was in an accident, and totaled my perfect black one at the end of last year... so I replaced it with another, as quickly as I could. Also interested in getting a second "hobby" one, if I come across $8k of disposable income. =)

As long as I have mine, will come around. Scion dying has no effect on me as I wouldn't buy from Toyota / Scion beyond what I have.

Still love it after all these years.

Default We Will Keep Our xB...

.... until the wheels fall off of it!!! SO, if any there are ANY xB 1st Gen owners that have a center console--let me know! No one seems to have bought it...(I should've bought it when I got the car in '05!).

Also, know where I can get some pedal covers that can be painted to match our color?

Check out the Maryland BC WOODY (it's on my main page)...ain't it cutie!!!

Toyota pulled defeat from the jaws of victory when they didn't bring over the next generation bB and instead gave us the bloated xB2.

We still have and drive a '04 xB, but the new car in the driveway is a Honda Fit. Toyota just didn't have anything that even came close to the utility and economy of the Honda.

Still driving my `04 xA and will continue till the end!! George, I know what you mean, the "new car" in our driveway is the Honda H-RV, the newest SUV from Honda,,, fuel econometer reads damn near 45MPG at 75MPH on the interstate :O for real and not even a hybrid!!!
10 years from now I'll own a rare classic automobile for sure .

I saw the new Civic out on the road yesterday. I liked it. but that would interfere with my 48 y/o driving project car.

I lost my first xB when I hit a deer 2 years ago. Thought I could live without one but was wrong.
Found a manual Shadow Mica 6 months ago and my Box love is going strong again.

Default xB forever

I bought my 06 RS4 in 09 with 30k, it now has 130k and I have put it in the garage to save it, I will never sell it. I just bought an 04, white, with 160k that needed a lot of work for $1800. I'm going to drive gen 1 for as long as I can. Toyota doesn't make it easy, the manual is stupid expensive and quite a few parts are specific to just these three years. Rust is killing the 04 but I'm going to try and save it and see how many miles I can put on it. Hopefully this site continues as more and more people need to try to restore their Scions. I hope to get time to put up a couple of DIY jobs I did so far: Worn out door hinges and rusted in rear hubs.
