Default It's finally time. Scion xB Gen1 School Bus

So, bought the wife a new car and got her 2006 xB. After all these years of threatening, it's finally time to pull the trigger. I'm turning this sucker into a school bus.

I want to go more in-depth than the ones I've seen online, so I started with that one more modern, minimalistic concept and grew it from there.

I've got parts on order, and was looking for suggestions. So far:

- lined up the wrap guy, doing partial (top of doors down) wrap and spraying roof/hood, unless I can work the price down a bit.

- got 15" simulators in route, along with more modern turn-signal mirrors

- bought led indicator strips for front and rear lights, although may switch out with orange for front strip.

- tint guy lined up, going to black out the windows as best as I can.

- want to relocate the plate in the rear

- need to find a set of those bolt-on fender flares (black, sort of truck-style with the notches in them)

- trying to get more 'school bus' style rear tail lights off of ebay right now.

- thinking about a different hood.

- looking at doing a moonroof or just putting a real escape hatch up on top.

Anything you guys can add as far as thoughts or concepts, or any sourcing for the parts I'm missing would be much appreciated.

I'll update this post going forward. Thanks!

11/12 Update: Swing arm sign on its way, tail lights on their way, new glass going in tomorrow. Looking for someone local to put in the escape hatch.
Update 11/13 - Simulators came in.
Update 11/14 - Glass finally in. Diamond plate floor mats ordered. Tail lights came in.
Update 11/15 - Upgraded tires to Pirelli 205/60 R15's to look meatier, new stereo/sub/headrest monitors/backup cam going in.

Still trying to find hood, bumper, and fender flare/wide body options.

If anybody knows of a fender flare that I can mod to work, let me know. I'm measuring roughly 66cm openings at this point.

Pretty huge undertaking. None of the places that would have that seem to exist anymore. Maybe someone else can chime in for you.

Thanks for the input, NYC. Yeah, eBay stalking seems to be my only hope at this point. Just barely missed out on one set - outbid.

Maybe try VIS or Extreme Dimensions for the hood, bumper, and fender flare/wide body?

The Great, Late, 12/8 Update - so, had a couple of setbacks. Ebay items came in damaged, lost a hubcap, smashed half of my lighting stuff trying to avoid another wreck, car wash took off my rear tailgate nozzle (left a dent and a scrape to fix, ug), floor mat issues - although tonight saw a bunch of progress:

- VVT sensor swapped to kill trouble code.
- Fixed faulty driver window controls.
- More bus hardware cobbled together and installed.
- Installed 'Air Brake' brake pedal cover.
- Fixed fuse issues.
- Swapped too-chirpy reverse signal horn for properly loud and annoying signal horn.
- Installed Sirius XM module.
- Got measurements made for diamond tread plate panels for rear seat.
- Third eye swapped out for 'STOP REQUESTED' sign.
- Added fog lamps (bad eBay switch).
- Looking at either wood or yellow interior inlays.
- More hubcaps ordered.
- Installing CB w/loudspeaker.
- Air horn is on its way.
- Got two hoods I'm looking at now...
- Grill w/fog light locations (going to use them to flash/alt red/yellow at shows) on its way.
- Debating more camera options. Got a spare for the front, and also have a b&w monitor cam I picked out of a bus. Thinking on it.
- Started working on my system's startup. Instead of default Pioneer graphics, have it saying 'All Aboard.' Still tweaking.
- Swapping graphics from Thomas to Blue Bird, since I got tons of Blue Bird parts, and sorta goes with bB, so...
- Got a grill off a Kurbmaster. I'll probably work that logo in somewhere - too good to pass up.
- Lots, lots more.

Will take pics as I get more electronics installed tomorrow night. I've got a line on a painter, so I'm converting the design into a partial wrap and spraying the rest. I've also worked really hard on bringing more physical mods into the picture, so it's been a bit harder - but hopefully in the end will be worth it.

Since I have so many LED's going around the unit now, ordered the LM449 relay to prevent trouble down the way (converting the rear STOP REQUESTED to brighter LED's).
