Default The Scion xB Effect

Has anyone else experienced this? I can be driving anywhere, and if I move over to pass a slowpoke, they speed up to keep me from passing. At other times, they'll come up behind me, pass, then slow down slower than I was driving. I've talked to a couple of other xB owners, and they agree with me that there is just something about the 1st gen xBs that tends to cause anger and disgust in other drivers, especially sports cars, muscle cars, and lifted pickups. Or maybe I'm imagining it...

Honestly I haven't seen much of this effect and I've been driving my xB1 for around 10 years. I drive faster than the average driver and it's usually me out front.

I think it might matter where you live though. I've been in Vegas and a couple of medium sized town in Florida..I do think that here in Florida there's a little more anger towards my xB than anywhere else I've been..still, not enough to really notice much.

I really notice it after driving my wife's car. She has a Corolla. I just get a sense of "more dissed" when I'm in the Scion. Or, maybe it's just me...

Haha!! I've experienced this many times too.
I also drive a Hemi Challenger, and people definitely drive more aggressively towards the xB when I'm in it.

Hmmm...I used to have a 2006 Gen1 TCM Toaster. I had it for 9 years and as a Company Car in Cali averaging 20K a year. I can't say I had the anger and disgust you had.
Actually, if anything, I got a lot of cute looks and compliments. Maybe, because it was a Novelty. Then, in the last few years, there was competition from the Nissan Cube
and Kia Soul.
But, I can see the Rodney Dangerfield Effect: "I get No Respect"

it's not the xb effect. it's called not using cruise control and distracted driving (radio, fb'ing on your smart phone, kids, going up hill (that one holds true)

Can't say I experience that in the xB, but I will say Prius & Smart car drivers seem to like to cut off the Hummer every chance they get.

It is simply out of the mercy in my heart, they are not crushed for being dill weeds.
