xB Gen1..Something is loose in the Steering..
OK, I got a new project car and it’s a Box. It’s got about 115,000 miles but once again it’s a project.. So here is my issue. I got something loose in my steering.
I generally feel it in the Steering Wheel. Its not a constant wobble but while going slow there is small amount of loose play.. and i really can feel it if a hit a bump at a slow speed while the wheels are turned.
First let me tell you what I have replaced so far:
1. Tire’s (balanced)
2. Tie Rod In and Out Both Sides
3. Control Arms both sides
4. Struts Both Sides.
5. Sway Bar Bushing(all)
6. Rotor and Pads
Now, I checked the CV Joints and wheel Bearings.. I am not left with Steering gear box or maybe a steering knuckle on the column.. Has anyone had this issue?
Thanks

@CombatmedicR56, I had same problem in the past with my Scion xB 2004. I was going to many experts to solve this problem. Then at an usually anual alignment shop, the Mechanic told me that (in his opinion) the car have an unbalanced engine. I replaced all three engine mounts. Two in the front one in the back. The Garage Mechanic in the middle of the mounts replacement work, told me that the transmission and the engine was needed an axis alignment. And he did. After that, the steering wheel was staying strong in the position. I can even drove on highway at any normal speed and the car goes strait, without vibrations, and not have any shaking movements. Turning from left to right or other maneuvers are more predictable.
