Not sure how many times I've suggested this mod to others, including other forums, but it's at least several -- just did it again this evening! The H11 idea is interesting, but for me, the H8 remains satisfactory !

Thanks! What color is your XB? I'll keep an eye out for you.

BTW, you do know that LED reverse lights are very weak? You'll be lucky to get as much rearward illumination as the stock single 7440 bulb. If those lower bumper "lights" are just reflectors, you could install some fog lights in those openings for some killer reverse lighting.

Hypnotic Teal with toyota Rumion spoiler and silver black wheels.
I won,t have the single reverse light when I replace the bumper and I,am looking to relocate the reverse light higher.I,am sure it won,t be as bright as yours, but will do what I need it to do?I,ll see you on 95 or around the south baltimore area were I work

Is anyone running this mod with the H11 bulb? If so, how is it holding up so far, electrically and heat wise?

I wanna do this mod, but can't seem to locate an H8 bulb, except for online. All I see is an H11. On the other hand I did find this at my local Pep Boys today:

http://www.nvisionsafety.com/driver_...156_style.html

It's 50W, Lifetime Warranty and wouldn't need any additional wiring. But will the 3156 bulb be a direct replacement for the 7440? It seems like the sockets are the same.

AFAIK there is at least one guy running a H11 without issues. Just keep in mind that the H11 is border-line safe with the stock wiring.

The H8 is (or was) stocked at Autozone, if it helps.

The 3156 has a T25 base and the 7440 has a T20 base. You might be able to adapt the 3156 to the 7440 socket or replace the 7440 socket with a T25 socket but AFAIK it hasn't been tried yet. The 3156 won't simply plug in, unfortunately.

Bumping this thread up. Yeah I know its over 2 years old but I would like to know if anyone can provide me with working links to the step by step pics. OP hasn't posted in a few years so PMing him probably wont help me out.

If anyone else has a better way of upgrading the stock 2010 reverse light please LMK.

Thanks

Looking at this for the 1st gen xB. Can't imagine that the 2nd had only one!
How about this for the H8 bulb?
2X New H8 High Power 30W 7000K White LED Bulbs Fog Driving DRL Light Lamp 12V | eBay

or this for just a 7440 replacement?
5K WHITE HIGH OUTPUT 21 LED BACK-UP LIGHT 7440 1000LM | 1 EACH - 7440 - 7443 - Reverse Back-Up - Shop Bulb Type
Thanks, ScionFred, for the imagination and original research a long time ago!
