Default 2GR-FE Swap..2010 xB..

I have for some time been researching a swap that would fit easily enough and would provide nice power and still be FWD. The only one I have seen done was on some guy's Instagram and he only posted photos of the swap going in and out and the final product. No help on how to do it.

This guy from this other forum had started and got a lot of useful info on the swap but is still missing a lot of info. If anyone could point me in the right direction or assist in any way possible all input would be greatly appreciated.

Let's talk 2GR-FE (V6) swap - Scion xB Forum

My main concern is the transmission. my current xB2 is automatic. now since swapping the motor will still need some modification would converting it to manual be easier in the process?
Or would it be more reasonable to keep it automatic and in that case which tranny would work best. Since the 2G comes in different models.

This is a project i will be doing in the near future and am just trying to get as much info. Once I have begun i will post exactly step by step from start to finish so others can do as well.

I mean that's why we are all here right?

Probably be easiest to ask Paul, they guy who's thread you linked. He's on here under the screen name k1114. He did quite a bit of research on doing the swap before he decided to go supercharged.

If you can find a rear clip from a Lotus Evora. This one is a little bent, but, I'm sure you get the concept:

I know this thread has sat dormant for a while, but was curious to see if anyone had started a project yet. I just purchased a running 2007 RAV4, V6 AWD as a potential donor vehicle.
Both the RAV4 and my 2010 xB are automatic, so I’ll stay with the auto. Currently trying to clean out my garage so I can put both vehicles on jack stands side by side.
I have only seen a few pics of a completed swap in Japan. But was unable to find any details.

That's the only done one I've seen as well. It should just be engine mounts, ECU, harness, and some sensors. Oh and you'll probably need to fab a mount to put a pulley in place of the power steering pump since we have electric steering. I'm sure something else will come up to make it more difficult though.

Greg, that is one plus of the 2007 model as it also has electric power steering. I went by the local dealership this morning to see if they had complete wiring diagrams for both vehicles. Struck out, they have gone paperless and even the Techs only have pictures and part numbers.

Driveway is still a muddy mess and garage is slowly getting emptied. And more rain on the way. Some preliminary measurements look promising.

Finally had a day without rain, but still a muddy mess here. Pulled the body harness plug (Small 60 pin plug) from ECM on the xB and made a list of wire colors and pin locations. Able to identify all but 3 wires. Made a list and drawing from the RAV4 as well. Now to find a wiring diagram for it. 32 wires on xB plug and 36 on RAV4 plug.

Default 2GR-FE Swap

2007 RAV4 Plug
2010 Scion xB plug

Pulled the small plugs from the cabin wiring to ECM. Drew out plug and wiring to each pin. Still trying to identify all the wires.

Still haven't identified wire #40.

Some similarities between the 2 wiring diagram. Not sure if Camry or Sienna or Lexus would be closer. This will take some more research.

One thing I can say is be very careful with wires of similar colors. I managed to swap two pairs when I was moving my ECU into the dash and it took hours figuring out that I had swapped a couple wires around and I ended up rewiring the harness twice to get it right. Once taking it back to stock and then extending it again when I discovered the swapped wires.

That's a concern I have as well. I kept looking for a colored tracer to keep from getting the wires confused. Could be a big stumbling block for anyone trying to do their own wiring. A pack of the stick on numbers that electricians use would probably be a worthwhile investment.

Finally found a diagram for 2007 Camry V6. I don't have access to a real car so can only go by diagram. Might be missing a wire or 2. Fewer wires, but have to remember that the engine ECU is under the glovebox. Whereas XB and RAV4 are by the battery. Something to think about.

It has been brought to my attention that I need to make this announcement. Anyone attempting this project should double and triple check any wiring or mechanical modifications on their own. I am only human and make mistakes. I thank those who have sent me diagrams. I can not be held responsible if your project fails. That is your responsibility. I am posting what information I have been able to find out. And will post information as this project continues. If this is not considered appropriate than I will discontinue and not post till project is complete.

The fun never ends. Working on getting the donor engine/trans disconnected. Taking electrical loose. Got the computer out and was going to lay harness on engine, but found more wires going to fuse box.
3 plugs and a power cable. And of course not all the plugs are the same between the xB and RAV4. So looks like about 30 more wires to identify on each vehicle.

I have access to shopkey pro diagrams, if you're still looking for info on ECM pinouts.

Def wanna 2gr swap my '13 if it proves to be possible.
