Need some help! I have a 2008 Scion xB with 56k miles and recently I will be driving and all of a sudden I have no throttle response and my rpms jump to 1500 in neutral where I shut my car off for a few seconds
then start it back up and it has throttle response and my Check Engine Light and VSC light, Traction Control is all on! I've replaced the gas pedal and the throttle body any ideas?

Get the codes read at auto zone (free). Then go from there

The code is p0121 it says it's the throttle pps but on the 2azfe it's built into the throttle body I bought a used pedal and throttle body and sometimes it acts up and goes into a limp mode with no throttle response

Sounds like an electrical connection problem. Bent or corroded pins anywhere? Could even be a bad socket connection, broken wire or bad crimp joint in the harness.

Electrical issues are hard to find, I have poor skills at that.

Well that makes sence! It was turbo when I got it and had keizenspeed a tuner shop put my wiring back to stock since they had a piggy back wiring for the fuel system! I will check out the wires and connections and try to see what is jacked up! Thanks rich

ON all electrical concerns check battery terminals and look for corrosion on chassis grounds. i know it sounds goofy but when they corrode it can effect things in strange ways. i know it was a piggy back system and that implies no programming to the ECM. but your ECM learns as you drive. was it reset when the system was removed? (throttle values) and (fuel adaption).

I do not know what they did! According to keizenspeed they put it back to stock! From the day I left I have had nothing but problems! I called them and told them about the issue they said drop it off and we can go thro and look at it, they had it for a week and they didn't even check anything cuz i put a peice of rubber over the wires it was never removed!

OK when a shop spends this kind of effort in customer service its time to walk away. Be thankful that this is all the damage they have done. If you insist on continuing work with this shop I would mention the BBB, Angies list, this forum, and maybe just maybe that will motivate them into positive customer service. AND for the rest of us...please take note of this company and there apparent service. The dealer ($$$) maybe able to reset that computer, or restore the original software. if you cant find anything wrong with the harness, or connectors. You could also look into another engine computer. (maybe a junk yard has a compatible one).

Yea I'm pretty sure it's the wiring harness that connects into the computer it looks like a 5 year old cut the wires and electrical taped it together

OUCH!!! well look into a replacement harness or find someone who actually knows how to repair a harness correctly. if you were in the Maryland area i would do it for you. even so if its more than 10-15 wires its gonna cost a few hundred to fix

but a replacement harness from Toyota is going to be around 600-1200.

That's crazy! Yea I'll try to find someone that knows how to do harnesses I'm color blind or I would do it myself! But thank you I'll look into it

and learn from this experience...NEVER buy a car that was once turbo'd, even if it was put back to stock...my god, do you know what kind of abuse your poor motor has probably been through? yikes....

Couldn't have been that tortured! It was running 6psi and had 11k miles when I picked it up and probably wasn't turboed they day they bought it so I would say from the look of the turbo and manifold it couldn't have had more that 2k miles

Wow, have you seen the abuse kids can do to a car in under 100 miles, with or without turbos? When one turbos a car, they tend to abuse the car, whether its set at 6 psi or 16 psi...

Sorry, i still wouldn't buy a car that had been turbo'd from anyone...but hopefully you'll be fine
