Default Maint Reqd light

All,

I just turned 5k on my xB2. The maintanence light came on, and stays on. I was wondering how to turn it off. DO I have to disconnect the battery cable for a bit? I was hoping I wouldn't have to lose all of my fuel data, and am wondering if all of that will go away when I reset.. Any advice would be appreciated.

Not sure about the 2nd gen. Might be the same as the first gen. On the first gen you make sure that the odometer is displayed, turn off the ignition, press and hold the odometer rest button and then turn on the key, wait a few seconds and then light resets. A number of cars use similar maint light resets (my wifes Honda is essentially the same). There may be instructions in the owners manual, if not call the dealer , mine gave me the instructions over the phone.

it is just a timer to remind you to change your oil. so everytime you change your oil, start the car while holding down the button next to the odometer and wait for a line of dash's to appear, and disapear one at a time, once that has happened, it has been reset.

if it is like my old toyota which im sure it is exaclty the same, you make sure the odo is dysplayed, not the trips. turn the ignition on and hold the odo reset button for up to ten seconds. you will see 5 little dashs, keep holding the button and it will count down to 1 then 0 and reset the maintnence required light

First of all, get your oil and filter changed ASAP, if you haven't already.

Second, change the odo display to 'trip A' and turn the ignition to 'off'. Hold the trip reset button down, turn the igntion to 'on' and wait 5 seconds. The maint-req lite has now been reset for another 5000 miles

It's all on page 99 of your owners manual...

I'm doing my comp. services at 3500 & 7000, then start my own oil changes at 11,000 then at 15000 and every 5k after that.

I couldn't get myself to wait for the 5k service, so ill do the first two sooner then move onto 4k then 5k.
