You say 200 miles on a "full tank". How many gallons exactly? What's the actual mpg?

Default Here's my real world #'s

Okay, so I'll make everyone feel a little better.

Here's my real world data -

Date Mileage Fill MPG
--------------------------------------
9/1/2007 732 11.7
9/15/2007 958 11.5 19.65
9/29/2007 1123 8 20.63
10/22/2007 1268 8.2 17.68
11/15/2007 1483 10.9 19.72
11/30/2007 1708 10.45 21.53

I got a 2008 Scion XB in June. I put very little mileage on my cars, as you can see by the time passed between fill-ups. I own my own business, drive about 5 miles back and forth to work each day and that's about it. Almost all my driving is stop and go city traffic. I've been on the highway 6 times tops with the car.

You can see, the mileage isn't so hot, but it's getting better with each tank as the motor is getting some miles on it.Even though it's not what I hoped, I'm still happy it's much better than my full-size pickup I owned previously.

BTW - I also have a brother who has an 2008 xb and bought it aout 2 weeks prior to me. He works with me, puts a little more miles on his car, but again all city driving and he get's about 1 MPG more than I am right now, but he has double the mileage.

Hope this helps!

-Mike

a know something that i have noticed in my xb2 is that, even though we have a 14 gallon tank- we have a 2 gallon reserve.

as soon as the light goes on- and i fill up- i fill up till i hear the click- which is normally right around 12 gallons.

so on my i guess you can say 12 gallon tank- i get about 280-300

Ok... has anyone here pulled a "Kramer" yet?

I have been super ____ed that I bought a car with a 14 gallon fuel tank, yet every time I have run the tank down to E with 0 miles left to empty, I can only get 11.5 gallons into the tank on fillup. After reading all of your posts, I have decided to ride around today at lunch and see if I can squeeze another 30-40 miles out of the tank. Right now, I am at 266 for the tank and it says 2 miles to empty.
Since I average 24.5 mpg, I should be able to get just over 340 miles per tank. I am just curious if anyone else has done this too.

Oh yeah, I have had the car 4 weeks to the day and have almost 2K miles on it.

a couple fill ups ago I got 210 miles on 12.5 gallons. I drove like crap though. When I actually drive like I should I get abotu 250 miles on 12 gallons.

Last time I filled up I drove almost 40 miles with the gas light came on and didn't run outa gas. Don't think there was much left in the tank at that point, and got 280 miles on it. I think I averaged 19mpg.

oh yea, and I'm at 9k miles right now

I have a 2013 Scion xB. When I bought it new I use to get 290 miles on the fuel range. Eight years later, I am now getting very crappy mileage. I average about 250 miles on the range meter, plus or minus 7-10 miles depending where I fill up. I have always maintained the car. The car runs and drives excellent. I currently have 168K miles. But I am at a lost. I don't know what is causing this decrease in MPG. It is not the engine oil, spark plugs, air filters, or tire pressure. I don't many fuel system cleaning.

What can possibly be causing this issue??

So I'm in a similar boat. I just passed 170k on my 2010. Had some Marvels Mystery Oil sitting in my car and i was going to change the oil soon so i threw in the 4oz that were left in the bottle in the engine. I didn't think it would do much, but I noticed when i went to fill up that my range counter jumped up to 288. I would usually get 253-262 before. I noticed that while having it display the current mpg it stays in the high 30s and even in the 40s in the highway doing left lane things. Gonna try a little more in about 4500 miles when i need another oil change.

Guys, I'm no expert on the xB, my car is a 2015 just turning 40k on the clock. This is a clean stock version, zero engine modifications. It's certainly not impressive in the fuel consumption department, although that's not why bought it. I am the wierdo that just really likes this car. I'm coming up on two years of ownership and still enjoy driving this car as much as the day I bought it. With that being said, I get between 21mpg to 25mpg daily commuting, not trying to stretch the mileage, just real life driving. The best I ever got was big toe on the accelerator down hill with a tailwind TRYING to get good mileage on a highway trip...28mpg. That was a one time thing and have never seen even 25mpg since. My big 4Runner gets better mileage around town. I still love this little car and enjoy driving it more than my big one. It's fun. Keep in mind, as far a range goes it does have a tiny tank.

I'd be happy to get 250 mile range consistently.
