Shifter Cable Bushings
#2
I keep meaning to order them. As far as I know they're pretty much the same across the entire Toyota lineup so I see know reason why they wouldn't.
They made a huge difference in my girlfriends 07 tC. Shifter felt a less notchy, which considering the tC wasn't that notchy was nice. The xB though, I hate the shifter in it, so I can't wait to see if bushing will help.

i'd be very interested to see if they took some of the "knotchyness" (hello don king) out of the shift. it was ok in stock form, but now that i have the short throw... it sucks!!! i've gotten used to it, but forget about downshifting when it counts!! very hesitant to go in gear when you go fast with it!

Did a check on it, the part is universal across the line. Any Toyota car that has a 5 speed stick that isn't directly bolted to the tranny and therefore uses a cable shares the bushing.
Corolla, Celica, tC, MR-2, xB, xA, xD, you name it they use the same bushing. I'm ordering a set this week.

Based on a couple of tC reviews, Im reading that it adds notchiness??? lol and someone said it was harder to get in gear... We shall see in about an hour as Im about to install them. I'll post tonight with the results.

Oh... my... freakin... GOD!!!! What a difference! Dude its night and day... the notchiness is still there but decreased some. No more misshifts or anything! You guys have got to get bushings! Best mod ever! xB needs it! Basically the feel is a lot stiffer but it gets into every gear with more precision and after flooring it multiple times I didnt have any issues like before. The box rox now!

I got the Doc I ones. Installation was a bit of a pain. Easy but it was hard slipping the bushings over the TRD bracket. Might want to grease them up some. Im am very happy with this mod and it actually feels like the throws are shorter just because there is no play in the ****. Its great!

The best way I can say to equate the feeling is if you've ever driven a rwd car where the shifter is bolted directly to the tranny this mod brings the shifter in our cars very close to that feeling, It really feels like the shifter is mated to the tranny directly.
I ordered mine from nonstoptuning.com btw

so this thing is the ****? i'll have to place an order and give it a shot. like i said before, i'm very disappointed with the TRD short throw kit. yes, the shifts are shorter but thats no good if you can't hit the gear you are going for!!

has anyone tried the shifter base bushing kit along with cable bushings?

this combo would remove all the flex from the shifter... but, can we change out the shifter base bushings as well??

My gf bought a set of base bushings for her MS3 that we have yet to install lol but I'll let you know how those feel on her car. As far as our car, it may just be like the tc where the difference isnt that noticeable. The main thing for our setup is the cable bushings. What a difference! I do have the TRD shift kit and like I said before it feels like the reduction in throw is more apparent. And no worries about getting into that 2nd gear. This totally eliminated any gear engagement issues I was having. Any screwups I have now I feel will be 100% my fault and not a drivetrain flaw lolz.
