Lighted Door Sills

Lighted Door Sills
Has anyone installed the lighted door sills? I was wondering how much trouble this is and if I should have it done by the dealer or try it myself. Are instructions available? Thanks...

I've taken mine apart already :-D
I didn't really read the steps, i just scrolled through and looked at the pics. I'm sure I could do it if I had a couple hours to make it looks nice and clean.

OK...... Thanks for the replies,
I haven't tried to install them yet, but the local Toyota dealer wants $112.00 to install them. I paid $142.00 for them on ebay and will still come out ahead if I have them installed. However, I'm still waiting for someone to tell me they have actually did it and how difficult or easy it is. In the mean time, I'm going to download the 18 pages and see if I can convience myself to give it a shot.

If the dealership only charges $112, that means they base it on somewhere between 1 and 1-1/2 hours labor time. It can't be all that difficult. I say give it a shot. Worst case is you end up not being able to do it; and then you can pay the dealership.

I too wanted them but have put off as they look like a lot of work to install. You got to get under the dash, front cowl and cowl behind the front seats. Careful to get the dome wire, not the air bag one.
I in a way want to do it, so I have something to piggy back some under body curisty lights.

I did mine.. First mod I did on my car.. i was nervouse as hell, just go thru the instructions 1 step at a time...
Read thru the instructions first,
then go back to step 1 & do it..
if you do it ONE step at a time & dont cheat, you'll make it work & look pro..
If you try & cheat 7 skip steps, it's gonna reflect on your outcome...
Listen for the 120$ you're willing to give the dealer for install.......
you could spend that 120$ for other custom stuff for your xB....
Plus the 1-2 hours installing them yourself will only cost you 1-2 hours of time...
Time spent on valuable experience.. experience will make you a more confident instal person...
I say go for it..
Do it yourself..
follow the instructions.. ONE LINE AT A TIME!!!
NO-FAIL allowed.
good luck.. jh

Aren't they stuck on by double sided tape? I had the dealer install mine when I first bought it and tried to change the lights amber, but they wouldn't pop off. Am I missing something? It seems once you install them, you can't really take them off without ruining the double sided tape.
