Default The End All sticky

First off the dash is exactly the same ___ all the other scions everything works together just fine.

The radio brackets are xA brackets

Dash kit for double din 99-8202 (you have to cut off one screw hole on the side)

Dash kit for single din 99-8209

Harness 70-1761

Factory steering wheel controls can be obtained by using a PAC piece (vary by radio)

Power White Ignition Switch
Start White Ignition Switch
2nd Starter White Ignition Switch
Ignition Gray Ignition Switch
2nd Ignition White Ignition Switch
Accessory Black Ignition Switch
Keysense Blue Ignition Switch or Fuse box (Ground to disarm alarm w/o unlock)
Lock lt. Blue Kick Panel 18pin plug
Unlock Pink " (double pulse)
Parking Lights+ Green Fuse Box Top Left
Reverse Light Red Fuse Box Top Left
Dome light White/Red Fuse Box 6pin 3 white red wires bottom one
Trunk Pin lt. Green Fuse Box Top Left
Tachometer Gray Data Link Connector Pin 9
Parking Brake Black Fuse Box Top Right
Horn Trigger lt Green Ignition Harness or Fuse Box

NO BYPASS REQUIRED

RADIO

12v lt Green
ground brown
ign gray
ill green
ant orange
LF +/- pink - purple
RF +/- lt green - blue
LR +/- black - yellow
RR +/- red - white

Front doors

1" Tweeter and 6 1/2" Speakers

Rear Doors

6 1/2" Speakers

VSS Wire Behind Radio 20 pin plug PURPLE wire Pin 3

This is the wire Randode did cut to make his nav work I did the same and it works, the headunit does not require the speed sense wire to be hooked up because it already is and its that wire.
The reason they give you a purple/white wire is because its cheaper to keep in in the harness then make a new one.
(not 100% but pretty sure that has to be it)

Best to attach a switch so if you aren't watching a movie you can switch it back so the radio has speed sense again even though it works fine without it.

Must also ground Parking brake wire.

The factory beeper is a Blue wire on the drivers fender you can pull it off and over into the engine bay.

Awesome post! I wish I had known the rear doors were 6.5" before I ordered my 5.25" speakers online on the advice of another poster.

It was probably my advice. I saw this sticky and it had me concerned so I went outside to do better measurements. Now, given I haven't taken the speakers out, I can see through the grill that the rear speaker is smaller than the front. So I decided to snap a picture with my dial caliper set at 5.25" and also take a picture of a 5.25" Peerless speaker with the same settings. The first picture you can clearly see the cone, it is the silver round portion behind the grill.

So unless my eyes are deceiving me or the speaker has some strange surround, this looks like a 5.25" speaker to me. Not saying that a 6.5" cannot fit, but this speaker has a significantly smaller cone area compared to the front speakers and the cone area is very similar to the 5.25" speaker in the picture above.

Default Passenger unlock motor wire

Do you know what wire it is for the passenger unlock motor? This wire is needed for add on security using OEM keyless so that the alarm cannot be disarmed via the unlock switches on the doors.

Thanks

The hole in the rear door is the same size as the hole in the front door and the factory speaker is a 5 1/4" speaker but even using a 6 1/2 you still need a adapter to make it fit into the hole correctly. The grill on the door doesnt cover anything on the speaker other then the rubber surround which doesnt make a difference musically which is why I say its best for a 6 1/2" speaker

No idea on the passanger unlock wire but if you pop off the door panel you will see its one of the wires attached to the factory actuator. It will also be found in the passanger kick plug that contains the lock and unlock wires.

Ok that makes sense. So the factory speaker is a 5.25" and the 6.5" speaker reference for the rear doors in the original post is just a recommendation, not the factory speaker size. If you could take some shots of the doors with the panels off, that would be great.

Also a little concerned about speaker depth on the rear doors, does it have to clear the power windows and if so how much depth do we really have?

Thanks for the info...

A few pieces of info from my AVIC-D3 install.

I used the metra 8202 kit from Crutchfield. It fit without hacking off any bolt holes. Not sure why you would need to.

The purple wire that Smartass suggests could be the speed signal wire is indeed the correct wire. I used it and confirmed the unit was receiving signal. This was originally suggested by Randode, thanks to them both.

The red wire used for reverse signal in the factory nav install worked fine for reverse signal.

The location used in the factory install for the GPS antenna worked great, completely hidden.

Factory install: http://www.trdsparks.com/install/08545-00930inst.pdf

The PAC accessories for making the steering wheel controls work are installed exactly the same as in the old xB.

posting this here. i found this in my messages from way back when. useful cause since the move, many threads were lost..

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=187351
thats for the gauge cluster

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=195379
thats for the shift column lights (PRNDS+-) if you have a automatic

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=201377
thats for the MODE button on the steering wheel

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=187980
thats for the A/C *****

as for changing the color of the buttons on the headunit, its only an option with the "premium" the basic and the navi dont have this option. if you do have the premium turn it off with the PWR button (no tricks here) then press and hold the MENU button and it will beep and a "secret" menu will pop up. then scroll over to ILLUMINATION and select blue.

Yes. I used a Metra reverse harness and a Metra aftermarket radio harness to make a jumper cable. I then tied in my loc using that. I didn't have to cut my oem harness at all.

you mind linking me to the one u got? I would love to not have to cut my oem harness..metra reverse harness and aftermarket harness?

I think I have the pioneer premium without bespoke/nav but have back up camera/BT/HD radio etc..does that harness work for that radio?
