Default Double din dash kit and wiring harness recommendations

Hi again everybody,

I appreciate the comments regarding the steering wheel adapter. Now my next question is which Dash kit and Wiring harness should I buy? I know shops tend to sell them for an absurd amount, and I heard that the metra one requires some modification when going into an 08 XB.

I've seen a few on ebay but am confoooooosed.

Please help!

Oh here are the links to the ebay ones I was talking about.

I bought a double din adapter from Circuit City. Just like the one you see on eBay.

Really it just depends on what kind of stereo you'll be installing. For me the double din was good because my stereo is a single din, and so is the center speaker. 1+1=2(double)

If you only have a single din headunit, you dont need that kit from eBay. You can get one with the ugly pointless pocket on the bottom.

Dash Kit with Pocket

Double Din setup...

I am going to install the Pioneer AVIC-D3 Nav unit. That's a double din unit.

That works too

The one your looking at on eBay is perfect then. With a little guessing its a fairly simple install.

Just gotta match those two plastic peices up with the wholes on the side of your headunit. Then theres 4 bolts to attatch it all to the car.

Good luck!!

Gah! That single din with the center channel is a nice setup!!!!

Which Alpine is that? I had an Alpine once. Nice deck, controls were a little weird to me mainly due in part to me using Kenwood since I was 16... Lol!

And they have low voltage preouts.

Headunit is DVA-9965

The center speaker is the only one Alpine sells (about 100 dollars).

Thennnn.. MRA-F350 for the amp. It makes everything surround sound (Dolby Prologic 2) :-0 Or if you have DVD-audio its true surround sound..

The headunit is way to expensive but its way ahead of its time I think. If your lucky you acn occasionally catch a bargain. But be looking out for it always !

Its basically just to side pieces and the wiring harness is the same for all toyotas 2003+ i think.

In fact i have an extra new wiring harness i got from crutchfield for the xb2 but i might use it after i sell my dual DVD headunit here .. see classifieds section for it for sale..
