Default 2 Generations Side by Side

For comparisons sake, I pshopped the 1st and 2nd gen into one image with scion's stock shots. If anyone would like, I have this full size for wallpaper, check the link below. I like both, they look nice... Discuss.

Here is the link for the fullsize shot. 1024 x 768 I believe. Thanks.

I really think they should have called it something besides the xB. Such a shame...

I think that the generation transition stays true enough to the xB to justify keeping the name. What I dont understand is why we have a new xB, but replacement for the xA rather than a new xA and xB. The xD is just a similar to the xA as the gen2 xB is to the gen1. So I guess my point is that if they wanted to change the names the should of changed both instead of keeping the xB and introducing xD.

Does the xA have such a negative conotation that Scion felt it better to totally remove the name from the line?

Again, I bring up Toyota's redesign of the bB. They changed it so much, it isn't the same car. I am sure people in Japan hated the redesign. Sure they could have called it the xE, but then people would complaint that it was trying to be an element. I love the redesign, and cant wait to get one. Any dealers want to contact me I'll be first in line.

I guess I'm one of the few that like them BOTH. But yeah, they should have called IT hte xD and kept the xA name...

I'm trying to sell my wife on a new xB now, but she has her heart set on the xD...

For all that I never cared for the t2B, and for all that the new xB resembles the t2B, it still seems to me that the t2B still was truer to the essential "boxiness" of the original xB. I wish I could explain it.

after seeing both cars in person pictures doesn't do it justice. it looks way better in person than the pictures suggest. another example of looking better in person the new lexus IS-F. the xB still looks like an xB just an updated version. the redesign is an evolution of the original and our 2nd gen looks more like the 1st gen than japans 2nd gen.

i have a serious money making idea...make a bunch of badges that say "t2b" or "xb2" or "2xb" and so on.

anyway, scion can't use the name "xc" because of the volvo xc90 suv. i have to admit, it is getting annoyin almost every single new car is getting a combination of initials and letters, or spelling a number like the ford five hundred and not the ford 500

I like the new xB, looks very very similar to the t2B

But here is the funny part...

xA owners like the new xB 2nd Gen, but HATE the xD

xB owners like the xD, and HATE the xB 2nd Gen

Of course that isnt EVERYONES opninon, but its pretty much like that.

I think you made the xB2 too big. Isn't it 3-4" shorter than the xB1?

Yea it did get that bad of a connotation as far as marketing was concerned. 50k projected sales only coming up to 25k (and vice versa with the xB) showed them that the xA needed to be renamed in order to remove people of the "bad" connotation to boost sales.

I personally think it was just that people felt as though the xB, while maybe the most hideous car in the world to them, still had the unique factor to it. The xA however was just another hatchback to them and as such wasn't anything to speak of.

PS: I'm not jabbing at any xA owners! (I like 'um a bit myself) Just my $.02 on how the marketing peeps probably saw it.

You know I was like some of you. I reallly believed that xb2 should have been renamed, but now I get it.

I think somebody may have raised this point, but I think it should be repeated. The reason most of us like the xb is because it is DIFFERENT! It's not like any thing out on the market.

Scion is right to keep the xb name. This car is definitily different. Some should give it a chance. I'm waiting until I see this car in person before casting any judgment.

To me the new xb is like life. We all walk a different path.
