Default I used to love my car

So when I first got my 08 xb I loved it. Love love loved it. Roomy. Perfect for me and my daughters. Well now I got this oil consumption issue I am dealing with. And from the looks of it I may be just sc***ed. I saw the TSB was sent out a long time ago and that it was covered under the powertrain warranty up until 6years/60000k miles. Well both have passed for me. Any advise on what to do??? I purchased an extended warranty when I bought it from a dealer. The warranty company said I have to do the oil consumption test and inform them of the results. After that they may require the engine to be torn down and that I am responsible for that cost regardless of the outcome. I am just beside myself right now. I bought this car thinking I would be worry free as the research I had done had shown that Scions were very reliable cars and would last a very long time.

I feel sick to my stomach...

No warranty equals the chance to build a stroker motor.

Sounds like you love the idea of a warranty, not your car.

I actually just found that Toyota is extending their warranty program for the issue until 2016. At no cost to the owner at all. Nice!!

Do you have a link? I'm sure there are many owners that would like to take advantage of this.

I don't even know what's going on. My car usually goes through a quart of oil per 5000 miles. I never thought anything of it.

Most definitely I am going to post the link. I was just waiting until I got to my computer or iPad to make it much easier. I'm definitely calling to make an appointment tomorrow.

Nice, I guess the pending lawsuit got them to do something about it finally.
