I use a Thule rack on my RS1, have for years.I have traveled hundreds of miles with my Hobie outback on the rack. This Hobie is pretty heavy (nearly 70lbs.) so I had to create a cheater bar to help me get it up unto the roof. If yours is that heavy and you don't always have help you may want to look into Yakima as they have one (maybe Thule does too) that has the built in slide out cheater bar. I love my rack and with the front air dam on it it is very aerodynamic. Good luck.
