Rear Brakes- Transfer to Calipers
Hi there,
I am starting to plan out my summer mod I will be doing to my '08 xD. I was wondering if anyone had switched their rear disc brakes to calipers? If so, I would love for you to leave your insight on how the process was and any big difficulties you faced.

Years ago, I converted the rear brakes on a race car to calipers. I had to replace the rear spindles, as well as the brake proportioning valve. Cost me about $1000 for all the parts, and took me a week to finish the job. This was on a 1986 Omni GLH turbo, without anti-lock brakes, where the next year had discs, so the parts were available. In your case, unless a kit is available, you'll need to fabricate a new brake caliper mount. How are your welding skills?
